I use Antimatter 95% of the time with 1000 ish rounds of the -25% range ammo for when I need to fight at longer rangers. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

Autocannons. No gun bonus anyway so you might as well use a weapon that doesnt drain cap away from your tank.

Edited by: cal nereus on 30/08/2007 10:54:06 Myrmidons mostly rely on their drones for damage anyways, but I suppose if you are using hybrids then you'll want to consider antimatter ammo (the highest damage ammo readily available AFAIK) and iron ammo (the longest range ammo readily available AFAIK). If you use blasters and want to go into close range then you might as well use antimatter ammo.

Solo PvP I would recommend either blasters or autocannons with right-in-your-face ammo (in the case of hybrids, use antimatter).
PvE, I would recommend artillery or railguns. Frankly I would suggest using iron for rails and carbonized lead/nuclear for arty. This enables you to engage at extreme range, and since drones are most of your damage anyways, the low guns damage isn't much of a problem. However, the range you want to engage at should dictate your ammo choice, especially with hybrids, which always deal kinetic and thermal, biased towards kinetic.
For guns ships, I would not use extreme-range ammo, since the damage sucks. For rails, I like iridium-nice range, decent damage, and a cap use bonus to boot.
However-do keep a mid-range and a short-range ammo in your hold. AM/EMP is nice for structure-busting, and some missions drop you right in the lap of your enemies.
And generally antimatter is *the* ammo for blasters. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

For PvP, use blasters. If you can't use Tech II, bring Antimatter and Iridium (Faction if possible). If you can use Tech II, bring faction Antimatter (Void if you can't get a hold of any), and Null. You can also use Autocannons if you want to conserve cap for tanking and other things. For T1 Autos, bring EMP, Fusion and Phased Plasma, for T2 bring Hail (or EMP), Barrage and Phased Plasma.
Rails would probably be a better choice for PvE

ill use hybrids cause i just learned it and wannt the specialisations in it for other ships later.
So to sum it blasters with antimatter for pvp
and long range rails with iron (and a close range ammo as backup) for pve.
btw is it worth putting dampeners on that ship when i use blasters? i guess no right??

what he said
i just cannot see any benefit to using hybrids that use a lot of cap and either need to be ultra close range (blasters) tehrefore vulnerable or long range (rails) and poor damage.

Edited by: Max Hardcase on 30/08/2007 13:52:27 You wont want use rails on the ishtar anyway. It has 3 bonus for drones, stick with that.
Rails/blasters use too much grid and cap anyway.

ACs without a damage bonus aren't too impressive and blasters have a higher base damage. ___
