Can The new Ore Capital Ship equip Strip Miner Modules, The ship requires the mining barge skill, so it should be allowed to work like a Mining Barge with strip miners. |

They don't have any slots to fit the Strip Miners so that won't work.
Help me help you. |

I blame Emperor Chribba.
Someone at CCP saw his veldspar processing estimates for the mining capship if it could carry strip miners. All veldspar in Empire would have been compressed and stored on his personal pleasure moon within 3 months. So they had to disallow the strip miners. |

If you look at the Mining Barges, they do not have any gun mount slots, just like the Industrial Cap ship, so who not allow the Ore Cap ship to have the uses of the strip miners. Good reason for it, Ore makes the Mining Barges, Exhumers and the Industrial Cap Ships, so puttig there Strip Mining technology in them is a simple thing due to they already know how to set them up. |

Because Ore Capital Ships are not meant to be a WTFLBSTRPWN rock killing ship of doom.
It's a support ship.

Which are woefully underused in EVE. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

I don't want it to be able to equip Strip Miners, I just want it to have 2 more high slots. The Industrial Core, Capital Tractor and Clone Vat already take up half the slots and that's not even taking into account 1 or 2 shield transfer mods you might want to run; that won't leave much room for gang mods.
Another Low would be nice too.

the ship is not designed to be a mega mining ship.. it is more like a command central for mining operations not to mension that it can compress ore into more compressed versions with it's internal assembly bays thus enableing you to fit alot more minerals into a smaller space so it is entirely logical not to have the nececary electronics needed to handle the strip miners since it is designed to be a "meat packing" ship ;)

Eh to me the Mining barge 5 makes sense as basically the ORE Carrier is an extension of the Mining director path as the ships bonuses improve the effects of the mindlink. So now instead of your mining director toon sitting in a BC or a Command ship they can work themselves into a Rorqual.
Most mining Directors I have met were miners to begin with so Barge 5 makes sense really, and helps to picture the ship as a mining support ship. The skills they choose make sense to me.
