I plan on becoming a bounty hunter, I've just started the game a few days ago and i just wanted to know how would i get started on a path toward bounty hunting.
I read some stuff about how you need Some kind of NPC to keep track of your bountys and where they are located (forgot what they are called), And i've seen the Wanted lists when i'm docked, but i'm not to sure where to start.
Can you someone give me some tips? Are there Missions that help you start out on becoming a bounty hunter? also what ships, skills, wepons etc. do you think are best for becoming a bounty hunter. And any other tips that you might think might be useful to me would be great!
Sorry for all the questions, as i am fairly new and i've only done missions since i started making money. Thanks for all your help!

First off you are going to need some firepower. Most pirates roll in gangs. Secondly, the agent you are referring to is probably the locator agent. The agent will search for a player for you and tell you what system they are in. That's a tough career but I'm sure it's fun. Good luck. - - -

you can make lots of iskies from bounty hunting.... however the serious bounties are likely to be in lowsec....
so my advise, train up for pvp, so ships weapons and tactics...
there are some great pvp universities within eve which might be a good place to start, you can find them in the corp recruitment forums...
oh and welcome to eve!

Just a tip on the locator agents, the higher the level of the agent, the farther they will "search" for you. It takes a few minutes and a few isk each time you ask for a serach to be done.
Level 1 is utter crap. I believe only 5 jumps, maybe less. Level 2 is better, whole region I believe. This would still only be useful if you know which region to begin in. Level 3 is anywhere. Level 4 is anywhere, but faster than level 3.
They will tell you where they are, even if the target is docked or offline. Also, check the info of the pilot in question and see where there corp HQ is if they're not in the NPC corp (which they probably arn't, if they have a bounty on them). That will sometimes give you an idea of where to start your search, but not always.
And be aware that most pirates with a decent bounty are going to have a decent amount of firepower unless you happen to catch them in a vulnerable situation.
Good luck with your career choice, it's not an easy one.
