Goons seem to have more actual people, ASCN was very alt heavy. Goons have extremely competent military leadership, ASCN had great empire builders. Goons have better, more experienced allies. And Goons regularly fight in unconventional ways. ASCN rarely did. ASCN came with BS fleet after BS fleet and got slaughtered due to nodecrashes, lack of T2 snipers, poor FCs etc. Goon tactics seem to vary more. Overall though I am pretty sure that if ASCN had had RA on their side, BoB would not have gotten far. Pretty much anyone (who isnt a goon) would say the difference is that RA+allies. Goons themselves arent really any better than ASCN. But I think if you add RA+TFC+all the others you get a giant blob with decent leaders. Just because goons have the big forum mouths doesnt mean they are actually any good.
