Ok well basically I have 2 1gb sticks of xms2 corsair RAM. They work fine when plugged individually into my motherboard (Asus P5N-E SLI), but when put in together (in either the paired yellow or black slots) my computer randomly crashes: either goes into a hard lock or reboots entirely.
I have a Core 2 Duo E6750 processor if that'll help.
Can anyone shed any light on my problem?
Thanks in advance, Flyte

It's possible that your PSU is right on the verge of overheating with just one in, and the second kills it.
Very unlikely though, uhhm...
Possibly a mobo connection problem. Did you try them alone in all the slots, not just one? ---

Thanks for the reply lofty Yeah I've tried them in all the slots, and I have a 500W psu but I dont think all my components would overload it (my gfx card is a x1950)
I've been trying to find answers on the wonderful bank of knowledge that is the internet, and apparently memory timings could be the cause of my troubles. The trouble is I have no idea what memory timings are -------------------------- Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

What kind of PSU? Manufacturers have gotten in the habit of listing the peak wattage rather than the expected sustainable wattage on PSUs.
