Why do CCP claim that they make these amazing server upgrades etc etc etc when you promote a fleet battle / gang orientated game where this is impossible to do!!!!!
I was stuck trying to log into game for over 2hrs 45mins since the amazing node crash in BKG due to server / node overload. Fantastic work as per normal..........
I am so glad that I have been paying to play this game for over 3 years now to see that the simplest of issues still have not been sorted out.
I am sure that there are many others who share my feelings on this matter. So please feel free to state as much as possible to actually see if some overall improvements will be made....................which actually help!!!!!!!!
Yeah as you can guess I am seriously fed up with this...... |

Was a joke, had to be close to 1 hour to jump into sys then only to not see anyone, not have any moduels, then node go's down and another 2 hours or so to log back in game...
If CCP gave a crap they would be imbaressed about the hole desaster, i feel so sorry to the peeps that lost ships in this lag fest.
CCP, you have made this game so the game need to be played with large fleets yet you can not make it playable like this, and not playable by a LONG SHOT!

I look forward to the day I can find an enemy who will keep his promise about the number of ships he will bring to a fight...

If we attacked where they weren't defending, then we wouldn't need to blob nearly as much and we could attack multiple targets at once.
Meh, i'm not in charge of tactics though, so my armchair commanding may not be the best advice.

Morg, if you attack where they aren't defending, all you can do is disable station services and reinforce POS's...and when those POS come out of reinforced, they'll be there defending.
The current POS warfare system requires blobbing.

Well, the internet is still a pretty new technology. Just 6 years ago, pretty much everyone was on 56k which was barely even usable for online gameplay. A big problem is connecting the instantaneous actions of about 400-800 people all within a small area of one another, and doing the math on only 1 server. The game has been known for at least supporting large-scale combat (which it does) but over 350 people is really pushing today's general technologies.
The fact is that this game does support larger battles than any other game. I remember WoW servers completely crashing when you brought 50 Horde into Ironforge. Final Fantasy XI literally dies when you have huge amounts of people in a small town and Guild Wars had to rely on completely distancing everyone into different districts of towns in order to spread out the lag.
I understand that lots of people are mad because maybe they got popped while lagged or can't even login to play, but all I can say is that as time goes on and newer and better forms of broadband become more readily available, things like this will cease to exist and it will be the 5000 person fleet battle lags that people will whine about. I myself have fiber optic cable which is incredible reliable and has very high bandwidth speeds but it isn't available in most parts of the world. Once more companies realize how profitable it is, and more people begin to use it in EU and AUS, we can expect to see some incredible enhancements to large-scale gameplay. - - -

The current POS warfare system requires blobbing.
If you take 3 or 4 POSs down to reinforced, in systems that are in different constellations, they have to either choose to blob one to protect it, or split their forces to defend all of them. Then, you can feel free to blob the POS of your choice knowing that it has relatively few defenders.
make the blob work FOR you, not against you.

There is no real fix for blobbing except hardcaps, unless it is totally impossible to bring as many people as possible people will blob, it's just human nature and well, it works.
Every free for all mmo ever had zergs and blobs. Because EVE is a single shard, the super blobs cripple the server. *shrug* What we gonna do? Break the concept of the game? or put up with lag?
I just started flying solo more often, Not much lag for me now :)

Ya but with 7 day stront bays now they can time the stront for those posses to come out one per day.

Well, the game is not totally "unplayable".
That said, I am heavily invested in this game and have been playing since 2004 (not on this alt, of course).
I cannot, do not and will not recommend this game to anyone.
Anyone I happen to like or respect that is.
If the lag and desync are ever fixed I will then proudly brag about how great this game is and encourage others to join.
Word-of-mouth is the very best advertising, but you have to earn it. So far CCP has not.

this is not a product, it is a beta. it is so completely broken that both unworkable mechanics and poor quality are a bigger influence on Alliance warfare than quality of pilots or FCs. i won't be suckered anymore.

he's not been there. you can't, you need masses of people to take down pos and to defend caps. poor game mechanics.

Yeah it was loads of fun, few years in skills, few days of working to get the ships, 4 hrs in getting ready for defense, 10 sec warp, 3 hrs of black screen. And then ur in a pod.
God knows I love this game, but this is my last fleet fight.

Unrealistic idea. If two coalitions fight against eachother in EVE, both try to maximize their chance to be successfull. And an important factor to be successfull are numbers.
If they had to agree on number limits, they would argue a lot, what numbers are fair. The view about that might depend on the situation, like if it's newbies vs. veterans, attacking or defending and all that stuff. In the end, both sides only agree that they disagree about it and bring what they can again.

The reason it took so long to get back on in BKG after the 400 man fleet crashed it, was because there were then 400 people trying to log in to the same node continously :)

Edited by: Shar''Tuk TheHated on 31/08/2007 03:18:47 Unplayable eh? I just played eve and it worked. Now yes the desynch junk needs to be fixed no argument there but eve isnt unplayable by a longshot. Fleet warfare however is at your own risk sadly atm and needs to be fixed asap.
