Originally by: Friedrick Psitalon I think the total is five engagements in two days, four to BRUCE, one to OSS. Twice you jumped into us (the one victory here,) three times we've jumped into you. Somehow, magically, BRUCE has used lag each time to utterly cripple you while magically blessing our pilots with perfectly lag-free screens. We somehow blobbed you with unbelievable numbers even though we only breached 2:1 odds in one of those fights. (Note - your numbers may not corroborate this because you seem to have a problem posting more than 50% of your losses.)
Well what you're seeing here is a bunch of OSS all worried about being called carebears then joining a gang that ends up going something like this.
OSS 1: They already outnumber us 3/2, maybe we should, yeah lets do it. OSS 2: Think they'll -ALSO- jump in capitals? OSS 1: Naaah. *Fight starts, caps cyno'd in. Dead OSS*

I think we jumped in caps in 1 of those engagements. The large fleet fights we had against the likes of EXM and Exuro Mortis (and whomever else came to play down in syndicate with fleets, sorry if I forgot you) have really paid off.
No offence, I think we've had more practise at this or you guys got rusty. By all means claim its going well or call in your friends. I do think you've annoyed the person in BRUCE that has to manufacture Blackbirds :P j/k
Seriously though, you're simply being outclassed when it comes to fleet fights at the moment, whatever the reason may be, numbers, lag, tactics, keyboard malfunctions, chinese hackers, bulgarian maffia hits on your neighbour or all of the above.
Time for my cheesy quote of the day:
"A duel is honourable combat between two opponents. A war is tactical combat between two armies. And you will lose a war when you show up expecting a duel."

Yeah, about the caps, I was talking about the one fleet fight I've been in with BRUCE since the end of the whole NAP ordeal (in SU a day and a half ago). Anything else from me was just secondhand knowledge, like something like a 40 man BRUCE gang in IIRH, we meet them with 50, they retreat to M2 and get reinforcements up to 75-80, we decide to engage (for some strange reason).
As far as fleet fighting ability, that one fleet fight wasnt really won due to organization. It was "OSS stands on one side of the gate, BRUCE jumps in from the other side, start calling primaries and ECM guys do their thing." I ain't saying you guys don't have skill, or less or more than OSS, just most fights seem to be one-sided numbers wise so it hasn't really been seen yet.
Also, I'm not one of those OMFG ALL YOU EVER DO IS BLOB people (especially considering the group mildly related to the Corp I am in). I mean, doing a "duel" is nice if you're fighting for the sake of fighting, but to actually get something accomplished like occupy space and drive out others, you gotta bring more power (whether its higher sp pilots and better ships, or just more numbers), otherwise you're just maintaining a status quo.
That's all, really. In my experience, you guys form up real quick and seem are generally well organized. Good job.

Vaust - Honestly, I think you have it right. I'm not sure why some of the suicidal engagements that were made ....well, were made. You don't jump in on a superior-number foe in a prepared position unless you have some pretty serious aces in the hole. It's not like OSS has anything to prove - even the hardiest BRUCE patriot wouldn't claim that. You guys step up and fight back, no doubt of it. I think someone is overconfident in this war, but I suppose both sides in any war think that.
In any case, cordial discussion is to be respected. o7

Edited by: Alex Devlin on 18/09/2007 03:50:39 The cordial conversation is why I'm actually kinda glad we're at war with OSS again. Given, this perspective may be skewed by the fact my playtime has been cut to a mere fraction of what it was a few months ago, but, meh.
Fighting with alot of the groups we've fought since the OSS NAP (not all, mind you, but a decent chunk of em) has been characters that we don't see around the space alot, who only show up for fights, and often don't "live" in the area. You see each other, you shoot each other, you go home.
OSS, living so close to us, during our last war, we saw them pretty much on a daily basis. Often enough a downed pilot would be sticking around in his pod waiting for a chance to escape, BSing with people in local. Everyone got to know everyone. It was kinda like a*****tail party. Except with guns and explosives. And not enough*****tails.
Ok, that's it, I need to get some sleep before I start making sense.
p.s. I can't believe that the filter edited that word, but I'm too lazy and tired and sober to fix it. You know what I meant.

Ok some of the Bruce speak honestly but let me ask something. Equal numbers you do not fight you jsut dock i speak for m2 yesterday and ect. You engage only 2:1 at least not less is it fun...And at 2 of the occasions you drop multiple cariers also knowing we do not have any. So rof the roaming gang you droped 15 bs against 5 and ect.. And you speak not for blobing. Honestly we are not rusty you are just bigger and got more numbers in the moment but things are changing. Yeah you got a few pilots and few new korps with a few nice ships but only this... Bulgarian experienced *****ers - the OSS |

*shrug* As always time will tell what happens. Personally I thought OSS were lacking in training when it came to fleet combat but it's not my place to point out where you could improve (especially not when you're on the other side eh).
In our previous encounters with other alliances we've found out the hard way that outnumbering your opponent can mean nothing. It's all about how you use the assets. I have no doubt OSS possesses the adaptive ability to quickly learn from what we bring so it will be interesting to say the least.
As for the reason the NAP was canceled, I'll leave that to alliance representatives to explain here if that should ever be necessary. Though keep it mind it never meant we'd start shooting you guys, we gave you plenty of chances to make a deal which was beneficial to all sides. I have respect for people that stand their ground though, even when it may be wrong.

The suicidal engagement decisions were made by OSS because... we really missed fighting you guys! The nap sucked tbh.
That and the sound of guns hitting BRUCE ships is magical. Kind of a weird poof poof sound.

Now you're just sounding whiny.
Really though, I'd rather be shooting OSS than Huzzah or Omen (Firem doesn't even get a mention), at least they have the spine to put up a force and fight. Not this "we're in your lowsec, shooting your indies, stroking our e-peens" business that the latter two seem so adept at.
Bring on more fleet fights, they're far more entertaining.

<3 you too.
Some people prefer small gangs/solo, try and understand this. I've been in both large gangs and small, and I don't judge you for wanting to fly in a big gang.

Speaking of big gangs, we had a fleet fight that was a little less one-sided today. BRUCE jumped into an OSS fleet who were deployed on a gate with snipers at optimals. I can't load our killboard to see the exact figures but both sides were losing battleships this time. It was great fun and there wasn't much lag - GF OSS!

Yeah that was good, your snipers were well placed from the looks of KB, top damage all the way. :P Who held the field? I wasn't there (damn timezones). As for the nano vexor, looks like it was 2 of our vexors and an arby that took it down. Sniper popped the arby though :D GF all round, we need more of this.

Wasn't aiming for the whiny bit, just saying, it wasn't really a negotiable situation. I'm not *****ing either, maybe I would have done the same if I were you. I'm just saying that, while in many instances, BRUCE gives off the vibe, and actually is, generally agreeable (modest forum presence, and NRDS in most of syndicate, that means something) the thing that led to this NAP ending thing was more along the lines of "This is our turf now, buddy, now gimme dat."

Apart from propaganda and laughable comments (like OSS is "outclassed" in fleet engagements ), I am really enjoying this war so far. Battles have been fun (except the one with BRUCE carriers which was lagged to the point of not being able to lock anything). We are adapting to our enemy. The "suicide" engagements happened cause we very rarely can say no to a fight, and sometimes we jump in just for the fun of it.. Last night very nice fight in VV. We inflicted heavy losses to BRUCE fleet, and our losses were acceptable. Anyway, it's in challenging times that people learn. It was about time for some big action in syndicate. Props to BRUCE for bringing big numbers and being bolder than before. You guys seem a well disciplined and organized alliance. We'd like to have some more fair fights in the future

Erm yeah, I think this thread is going down the washer. 25 people went to roam without an FC and learned it's not a good idea. You did indeed win, it was 27-25 ship ratio with 25-13 loss ratios (with pods). I have no qualms posting battle info, even losses but if you're just going to CAOD way of being an idiot about it we can just lock this thread and call it a day eh. -_- It's not even good drama :(
ps: again half of your losses not posted on KB? :P sloppy sloppy

If you really think that a few losses can hurt our morale and motivation you're wrong. And if you really want to do it in the right way, make a battle report in a seperate thread and not in this one here. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

Bruce started the war because of arrogance,it is your call we just protect us. If anyone want to see the battles can check the killboards. Ah i forgot you do not have kb it is secret. And seem fighthing firem and outbreak taught you something. come in small recon gangs and do chaos, but in fact they kill too not like your gangs just staying cloacked and runing in the moment your target receive help.

Hahaha
They do, don't they.
They are not supposed to shoot neutrals, they are highly disciplined, they have diplomats who take their job very seriously, and to top it off, they use elaborate language.
I have nothing against the Brucies actually, it is just this white west mentality that I find highly unusual and slightly unfitting in Syndicate.
