An easy, cheap, and effective way to ensure fair recoveries from Node Crashes, Node Resets, ISP outages etc.
CCP by adding a system where a GM can assign groups of alliances into sides on one or more nodes.
Because the servers know who belongs to what side with some modification (should be fair minor in real terms) the server could log everyone in 2 at time one from each side.
Because people are logging in 2 at time they will for the most part
a) facing even odds until the entire fleet is logged in. b) fighting other small gangs in the place they logged into
Because of benefit 'b' it should reduce the total number of people in system once the fleets are logged in meaning that the server (in thoery) will not crash/get reset right away.
So to sum up the benefits: On a Node/Crash Reset with this plan people will get logged into a fair (numbers) system, will get to fight small gang battles (or hide if they can), should have less chance of a node crash/reset and maybe less lag once everyone is in.
I will point out it's 2.10am here, I am drunk so I don't know if this has any flaws but
Flaws Below Please - I'd love to know if this is workable.

Not quite sure what you are on about here but pretty sure it won't work (working under a few vodka tonics myself so keep that in mind).
The best granularity EVE is capable of is 1 CPU per system. I have heard there may be a way to improve that in the future but it is not today.
Second is I do not see how you can have a computer decide who is logging in to a system and decide which side they are on and somehow control things that way. If I bring 100 ships to meet your 10 are you suggesting I should only be allowed 10 anyway? That's not right.
Much as I think blobs are a plague on EVE I do not see this as a solution.

- For this plan that is not relevant.

- The GM sets the list of which alliances are on which side, not an algorithm, however the 2 should be picked randomly one from each side (make for some nice fights)
- No limit to numbers, it will log you evenly (one from each side), it will keep logging people in regardless of how many on one side, your full fleet will eventually get to log in, as will theirs, just some of yours will be logging even after theirs are in (because it was smaller)
- It's not a solution to blobbing, its a solution to make the inevitable node crashes/rests fair on all parties and hopefully add more fun with the small gang battles while everyone gets back on.
I hope that clarifies the idea and addresses some of your points.
