I am thinking of buing a BS but I don't know which one to buy. What do you think is the best all aroun BS?

depends what you want to use it for - pvp? npc? roid chomping(gak!)? - and can you afford to insure it? they are expensive beast to run properly...

Tempest
If u want all around that is
It can deploy quite a few missiles ( 4 missile launcher slots )
It can equip 6 guns ( 6 Missile slots )
Nice drone space and it aint slow
It also has good bonusses per skill lvl ( if u use large projectile )
You can deploy it in every way you feel like it
and with 8 - 5 - 6 in the slots it aint bad at all :)
although others might prefer different ships, the Tempest feels at home in alot of roles :)

since its ur first i asume a lvl 1 ship,
typhoon, maybe PvP worthless unless JADE C flys it.
domi, noob-miner.
arma, good miner.
scorp, good PvP

Spend another month or two training skills and in the meantime, read up on battleships. Then decide.
Good skills to train in the meantime:
Gunnery to lvl 5
Rapid Firing
Energy Management
Energy Systems Operation
Shield Management
Engineering

typhoon is pretty good, best tier 1. can do nice damage and is handy with drones

While its is the best Tier 1 BS overall... it lacks in the mining department like the Scorpion. It can pretty much outdamage most Tier 2 BSs in combat as well. It might be the best gate camping ship in the game but I rarely see it used as such in my part of space.
Domi is the best choice for most people though. It can pack a punch, mine well, its cheap, and cary ass loads of drones... Make a fleet of Hammerheads and you can escape any Missile barage with cannon fodder. :)

mhh never tried mining with my BS :),
but why is a scorp better for mining then a typoon? scorp can only fit 4 turrets as well and has not the same drone space

The Typhoon is a drone carrier too. It can carry an 'assload' of hammerheads or heavy drones. Its 2nd to only the dom.

Dominix is the best all-around BS, it has the most drone space, has 5 mid slots, and can fire 6 Miner IIs easy. Dominix is cheap and can be tanked out to last in a battle.
Unfortunately it looks like Boxer puppy with all of its legs pulled out.

I`ve flown both tempest and typhoon, the funny thing is that i better like typhoon, it`s ugly as hell but could be tanked to the point that even tempest have worst shields, and he still have full firepower. It`s best battleship for modifications, it`s really hard to run of cpu on typhoon when putting those extra boosters, and with 4 1400mm and 4 h-50 arbalest with torps/cruis and 14 ogres it could give a nice punch... Oh and he`s locking time is awesome, with single shield booster you lock almost instantly (it`s very important becouse typhoon have a short locking range)... The bonus when you look at it may not be very nice but with this you could forget about those computers that increasing your ships optimal firing range.
Only thing that typhoon can`t do well is mining, so get arma for mining typhoon for fight

i agree with the post above, i can have an xl c5l running for about 5-6 minutes on my typhoon when fitted with 4 1400mm, 4 xr3200's, counterbalanced, and if i train it 9 heavy drones. It has a cap recharge time of about 250seconds for 4600 cap, and shields of 4650. Plus it is the fastest of the lvl 1 ships, i think it owns.
Mimiru > It'd be a tie, the monkies nerfed pooflinger wouldnt have enough tracking to hit the parrot orbiting him, but the parrot's beak is so small it couldnt break the monkey's fur tanking. |
