Well we got rid of the SNAFU acronyms but now we are back to having stations sorted alphabetically. Any chance they could be sorted, first by orbit item, then alphabetically by name if necessary.
At least the scanner seems to be better now. Even sorts the roman I, II, III, IV etc numerically, so it can be done.

Can we have OPTIONS?
Frankly, I hate this worse than the abreviations

*digs up an old comment*
I'd prefer to have the default be what it was originally, and then a customizable layout in the settings window.
i.e.
%s - system name %p - planet name %m - moon name %pn - planet number %mn - moon number %f - full station name %a - abbriviated station name
The default was something like %p %pn - %m %mn - %f
But you could change it to however you prefer, like remove the planet name and moon designations and have something along the lines of IV.V - Caldari Navy Assembly Plant (%pn.%mn - %f)
Or if you want to get really compact, IV.V.CNAP (%pn.%mn.%a)
I'd like full customization, so whatever somebody prefers they can have.

Xailia, thats a damn good idea, I bet you're quite happy with printf() eh?
seriously, the one thing that Eve lacks is configuration, lots of people like it one way, lots of people like it another way, and THATS HUMAN NATURE, so get with the program CCP, and give us more config options

Edited by: Asharee Intrefer on 10/02/2004 02:28:21 I liked the abbreviated CP3 version best (besides the fact that the roman numerals were sorted in the wrong order). Several options would be very nice.

The newest change to the drop down menu was a huge mistake. Every other reference in the game to a station or moon or planet is ordered System, Planet, Moon, Station respectively.... the drop down menu change is not. It's counter-intuitive and the change was a horrible decision. Make all references consistant.

The abbreviated or not abrreviated doesnt bug me that much but system->planet number->moon->station was much more logical to me and I think the reason why is that thats the way the missions tell you.
Right now the mission destinations and the drop down list are in two different orders. Thats not optimal in my opinion. In fact it feels down right dyslexic reading a mission statement to find your destination then 2 seconds later going to the drop down and its not visually the same order as the mission statement.

... To be honest, i like the change. If i know am to find say, Kaalakiota station at Planet II Moon 5, having the stations of one corporation grouped and with their name in front makes it easiest/fastest for me to locate them. Having choice would probably simplify the trailing part just to II-5 or something similar, since "Planet" and "Moon" are superfluous bits of info and actually get in the way rather than help.
But best way would be the option to configure that, yeah. ^^;

The last patch was beter than this way, best case would be user configurable.
Please oh please, do it.

I ranted a bit about the change, but I've gotten used to it now. After all, you usually don't look in known systems, you know where things are anyway. And with the whole name, things go a bit better when doing agent missions.
But I'd like 1) to be able to customize a bit more, than just get the changes thrown at me 2) a bit less forced changes. We get used to things if it don't suck too much.

Go Xailia! Excellent idea that CCP really really should listen to. Can't improve on your comment, just politely bumping ;)

customizing the way how stationnames will be displayed and sorted? guys - use some seconds to think about this
...
communication between PCs and of course between long and short playing peeps will be very very confusing for both parties
the long playing dude will be used to his configured station names and the new players with default or other customized station names
you see what i mean? even the message "dock at third station in system xyz" will not work anymore if the system names will be sorted differently
and if the order is always the same then many will start to complain that they want to customize or want to have their "correct" sort order
best is to adapt with one way of representation!

Best way was the most recient way.. In order by planet/moon and the abbriviated station names.
Was just too new for people to rave about.
Most complaints, i'm willing to bet, about the order of the stations in the pull-down menu.. Most people complained about the change because of silly things like being used to the station they work out of being on the bottom of the list or something. So when the list was actually put in some sort of order. You got a bunch of people that didn't like it simply because it wasn't in the order they were used to anymore.
Silly..

I'd like to see the option to warp to the Star of the system put back in. The planets and moons were kept but not the sun??
