When I was younger, I picked on this one bigger kid IRL. He got angry so easily and would chase me around to beat the **** out of me. Never caught me though. He'd eventually calm down and later I'd tease him again... does that make me a bad person?

Well...this is EvE. By design it attracts and endorses all the griefing scum in the mmo world.
On another note,it would be incredibly interesting to see how people behaved when a RL name and address was attached to that griefing character.

Come on people. The OP does have a point and you guys are showing it. I can't understand why when someone has fallen face down and is eating some sand, nobody is helping to say something nicer. Instead, you guys are laughing at him and kicking more sand at someone taking the fall. eVe players ... sighs.

It's exactly because he is being so insulting in the first place that we are kicking sand in his face.
If he were more cool about it, I'd offer some sympathy and say "Yeah, sucks dude, but some people just choose that route, and you gotta learn to deal with it. =("
But he pretty much made himself look like a tool right off the bat by saying 1) I didn't really read the warning upon entering low sec, so now I'm going to be angry at everyone 'stronger' than I am. Because I don't believe in Darwinism, so it shouldn't work!
and 2) **** all of you, you have no lives. Because, since you are better than I am at this game, probably because you've been at it longer, then logically you have no life. Oh, and bad karma on j0o.
So, yeah. Someone above me said posts like that net you bad karma too, and the replies he's getting are the bad karma showing. No one is going to be nice when that's what you see as an OP.

He walked into a sandpit that had a "there are people here who will push you in the sand" sign at the front, got pushed in and is probably quite angry at the sand too.

To the OP.
Nomatter what happens, nomatter how unfair, costly, anoying it is never and I meen NEVER complain to the griefer in any way, dont smack them, dont say they are pathetic little ****s that live in their mommys basement, do nothing of the sort.
If you feel they abused game mechanics then petition it, if you dont then ignore them.
The reason for this is that they want the complaint, they live for it.
To them getting a "Im gona quit EvE" comment is like winning the lottery, they in short get off on it.
True, they are sad people who have something in RL that has made them like they are but you are doing what they want by complaining, it makes them feel good, big and powerfull.
Thus in short, they ganked you, fair crop, they caught you off guard and taught you a lesson, if you are smart you will not fall for the same thing again.

I, do, in fact love the screaming in local and the hate mails. It really is amusing. I pirate for ISK, so I wouldn't call myself an all out griefer, but according to "you that sit around and kill those that are weaker then you" I guess I fall under your definition.
But yeah. I do get off on this sort of thing when I'm the one doing the killing. When I get killed it's usually along the lines of "Damn. gf."

In Eve you should not get too involved, its easier said than done, Ive been treated unfairly lots of times, and yes it has got to me a bit, As you say about karma, mine is about to explode as it has built up for a few years now.
