Ok, so what are everyones ideas on not getting ganked in high sec?
Upper end transport ships? If so which ship and setup? Crane? Bustard?
Some wisdom you want to share that saves you from being ganked?
I carry close to .5 bil per load on any given day, right now spreading my trips to brake up the load so if ganked i dont lose too much. How do you deal with it?
P.S. I was too naively trusting of concord right up until i got ganked in my Iteron V with Hulk inside. This was few months ago.

Transports and don't go AFK. With WTZ and their recent buff you are only really at risk in a Transport ship while you are AFK.

Thanks, i was thinking about Crane. Will start training/building the shield tank then.
I never AFK travel anymore after that incident, and always 0 warp everywhere. Its coming out of Jita hub that gives me chills with 4 ships scanning you at the same time.

Cargohold scanning is a easy thing to avoid if you put it in a can and then in your cargo hold, or atleast thats how it use to work

I asked about cans in cargo earlier in help channel, can anyone confirm if it still works?
They said cargo scanner can still see it.

The only real way to protect yourself is not to travel afk. Always use warp to zero.
If it is a valuable cargo I would recommend using a transport or a cruiser (like the Exequror). These can sustain one or two hits from a solo kamikaze and they don't carry enough to risk most larger ships in the kamikaze attack.
If it is bulk cargo and you really need to use a freighter do not fill it full, make it between one quarter and one half full. After half full it becomes more worth their while to suicide your freighter. Always use a scout or two for the freighter.
Be especially alert in Hub systems. (Example Hub Systems: Jita, Hek, Rens, Amarr, etc) You are more likely to suffer a kamikaze attack in a Hub system than in any other system. Do not travel afk in these systems, do use a scout whenever possible.

You haul .5 billion per trip?!
Ok take some of that insane pile of ISK, but a seccond account. Send him ahead of you in anything with a scanner. PS that's everything. This alt moves ahead of you.
Alternately the alt can fly an untanked iteron 5 with three GSC all labeled Megacyte. That should clear the path nicely, though you may need a fresh iteron every couple jumps. you can stage them along your path pretty cheeply and scoop the loot of the idiots.
Now fly alert and at the keyboard in a T2 Industrial ship with inertial comps and stabbs. Use your mids for a nice shield tank and walaa, they will bother someone else.

Tested it, put a random mod in a secure can, flew out and scanned .. you don't see the can .. but you do see the random mod you put in there on your scanner. Soo .. those secure cans aren't THAT secure .. :)
Just never fly AFK with loads of eggs in your basket .. or fly together with a Logistics, who is also your scout and stuff .. and hangs outside the station waiting for you .. yadda yadda .. and always put a 'decent' tank on it. (as far as you can tank a Industrial .. or better .. your Transport ship!!)
You can avoid ganking, when you are alert ("Hmm ... what are those 20 Domi's doing here .. all pulsing with sensor boosters and stuff .. weird stuff. Ok boys .. come in .. it's safe!") .. or protect your precious cargo when prepared, and some lone fool tries to gank your ship, but can't beat the tank and Logistics 'healing' you.
Fly Safe! ===

Crimson Dawn, Mecinia Lua, Lowanaera thanks for your thoughts!
I've decided on a Crane. My tanked Badger II is going into retirement tomorrow morning.
Galan Amarias, Excellent tips. And with this slew of nerfs recently - it seems to me that the safer my travel is the less money there will be in industry as more people enter into safer waters. Maybe i am wrong. And i wish i was rich enough to buy pilots but my capital is all tied up in making more capital ;]
Dragooh, thanks so much for checking can issue. Appreciate it. Its gonna be Crane 1x Inert Stab, 1X Core Stab, and lots of shield gear. Those Dom's freak me out every time i see them. Will see if i can get a logistics pilot going too in the future.
Thanks again guys, awesome info.

Edited by: Sergeant Spot on 03/09/2007 06:37:16 Rule #1: No afk Rule #2: Use warp to 0km Rule #3: Fly a ship that gets INTO warp fairly fast Rule #4: Fly a ship that can take some damage and survive.
In that order of importance.
Over time, most folks violate these rules, even if you know them. Do it often enough and you will pay for it.
I rarely violate them myself, but have done so, and I have, on one occation, paid for it (lost about 200mil in Datacores, assuming Jita prices. Fortunately cargo got destroyed.)
I've no doubt I'll violate the rules again, and sooner or later I'll pay for it, but hell will freeze before I make a standard habit of violating those rules.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Oh, one more detail
Dont listen to the brain dead idiots that suggest an escort. All you'll do is lose a cargo anyway, and waste the time of your friends.

Why prevent it? Let it spill over into the schools and the churches, let the bodies pile up in the streets. In the end, they'll beg us to save them.

The most obvious ones?:
1. Don't AFK/Autopilot
2. Use WTZ
3. Don't AFK/Autopilot
4. Don't carry small items worth huge amounts in ships that can be torn to pieces by a well fitted frigate. For a completely random example, Carrier BPO's in a Destroyer or something crazy like that.
5. Don't AFK/Autopilot
6. Realise that even though it might cut a bit into your profit margin, it is not necessary to fill every low slot with cargo expanders.
7. Don't AFK/Autopilot

Small Hi value items
Inty with Istabs, overdrives, nanos, I also have Warp Speed Rigs and an implant, if scanned at 21.3AU/s they will have alot of difficulty catching up, Post patch the malidiction is good for this with extra resists and the small sig radius all intys get.
Medium
Prorator 4 lows for Istabs and Nano and some times extra WCS (lo sec gate camps with the equiv of 6 core strength leaves some very unhappy campers) Cloak, Med Shield extender, MWD in the Hi/meds
Impel 7 lows - fit for fun - I never carry anything of perticular hi value in this, at most 100m
Large
Providence Slave Implants Gang with a Fleet Command ship with armour and shield resist modules, Huginn or ceptor with web for insta warp. If avalable have some corpies with Logistics tagging along too (if logistics also fit the repper modules on the CS) 2 scouts one infront and one behind

Just don't carry more stuff then a potential suicide ganker will loose to take you out.
