I followed the 4th Alliance tournament this weekend and saw how Damping Caracal's were used successfully.
Im thinking of organising a damping Caracal only op in our Alliance in the near future.
Am I silly or might this be a good idea having 20 of them roaming 0.0 for a couple of hours.
PLease ad your thoughts to this thread and point out possible obsticals

Well, if you are going to have 20 ships and fight other large groups of players, the communication of who will dampen who will probably be where the challenge will be.
I think you should do it though. It doesnt cost you much to try.

Sadly it wont work as the torny, you well get blobed by every hac fleet and some one will drop a carrier and it wont be very nice. ThatĘs my expectations.

We used to run cruiser gangs very frequently in Beagle; they're cheap, fast and a lot of fun to fly. You'll probably find that you'll get a high turnout for an op like this, however it's debatable whether or not you'll get Caracals exclusively.
While Caracals might seem like a great one-size-fits-all gang component, you'll find that a gang composed of a mix of cruiser will fair better. A pure Caracal gang looks great on paper and has a bit of novelty value but it can't compare to a concerted mix of cruisers with smart fittings. Here's a typical cruiser gang layout that fits all races:
Caracal: 5x Heavy Missile Launcher, Large Extenders, Dampeners Blackbird: Assault Launchers, ECMs, plates Thorax: Blasters, MWD, plated tank Celestis: Launchers, Dampeners, Plates Maller/Omen: High-damage pulse laser layout with plated tank Stabber: High-speed tackler layout; MWD, disruptor, auto-cannons or light artillery with a light tank Rupture: Autocannons and a heavy tank
We used to run these gangs around all the time. Once you're able to coordinate ranges such that the missile boats and ECM platforms are at long range while the heavy hitters are close, there's not much the enemy can do apart from dropping capitals on your head. The real trick is coordination; once everyone's at their appropriate range and knows what they're doing, you're set. The damage output:price ratio for a gang like this is staggeringly good. -----

OK but remember the carrier will be damped to like 2 km with locking time of couple of minutes
I have to agree with the first reply that the issue will prop be that who gets dampend in a fleet will be the hardest to get right
Damping the big stuff and shooting the seport first is what springs to mind
I took a 20 man bomber gang out a week ago and sat at this station cloacked - We were a little outnumbered in local but they never undocked so I cant say what would have happened - But 1 thing is for sure we would have popped a shipp every 14 sec
Coming back to my Question
Will it be as successfull as it showed in the tournament?
All info welcome

You'll need to bring a tackler
Not many people will sit still while you pound them with missiles from range

Advertising your potential strategy on the boards probably wasn't the best idea.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.
