Well, you know what the topic should really say but thanks to filters I couldn't put it there :p
Anyway, on to the point. My corp got wardeced last week by another small corp that in their description says they specialise in EW & Covert ops. I was personally taking a week off when the dec came in so I heard about it first from corpmates in irc.
So I got back into Eve on sunday and got to take few potshots at them. Then I got their CEO and promptly sent him home thru medical
Today tho proved to be THE day for combat. In 2 different engagements I almost singlehandedly decimated their tries to get me.
First engagement in Haatomo, early morning: Me in a Myrm + corpmate in Kestrel vs Rupture, Thorax and a T2 fitted Sniper Ferox (Thorax & Ferox flown by same dude) First he lost the Thorax - not a platerax so ogres ripped him apart nicely, went to kill the Rupture and got his pod too (the other guy claimed he crashed, well he WAS in local when I podded him...), first guy came back in the sniper ferox, sat 50km from the station.
My corpmate who has literally no combat skills to speak of, flew a Kestrel with me and docked since the Ferox got him to armor in 1 volley. I just warped to a planet and back to 50 and this guy was still there! landed 5km off from him, 2 minutes later: A dead Ferox.
He did show up still in a Harpy and got my mate who had undocked to loot the wrecks close to station. END OF FIRST ENGAGEMENT.
Second Engagement: Tunttaras, early evening. Me (again the Myrm) vs 2 Feroxes, Caracal (their CEO) and a Rifter. There was also a Punisher but it docked the instant I locked it. One of the Feroxes played bait at a station and aggressed back when I shot it, the other Ferox + Caracal warped in, Rifter came in a bit later. Killed their bait first, then the Caracal and then the other Ferox, tried to get the Rifter too but dang thing was too quick. END OF SECOND ENGAGEMENT.
So far this war has proved to be pretty one sided, my corpmate has lost 3 kestrels, the enemy has lost 2 Caracals, 3 Feroxes and a Thorax
Needless to say morale in my corp is pretty high, I wonder how it is for my enemy, they have now twice tried to get me, failing utterly both times.
I did talk to their CEO after I podded him, and he told this would be practise for them, well atleast they get practise in the art of dying.

We just finished a war like that, they war-decced us for one of our members stealing our cans and we just absoulutly dominated them, I did lose a hurricane but it was me Vs 6 of them cause all they know how to do is gank and not fight.

Must be nice to be young. Sounds like a snowball fight, not a war. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

Cheap.
Good range with rails when you can't fly an Eagle.
Tanks better than a Moa.
Then again, I'm left wondering the same thing. _________________________________________________________

They are fun ships to mess around in, you can get a pretty good tank on one.

The conflict is now drawn to closing, opponent has retracted their wardec and while their CEO admitted that I got some "fans" now in their ranks, he understood the situation and they learned a lesson in empire war. This was also the first time I had to defend myself from multiple aggressors at the same time. I learned some valuable stuff too and have subsequently adapted my Myrmidons setup to compensate.
Next time they dec someone, they're one experience wiser and hopefully will not do same mistakes again.
On the "Why would anyone fly a Ferox": It's a decent boat still, and the only relatively cheap rail platform for Caldari. It CAN do a decent tank with missiles or semidecent tank with rails (sniper) or just go allout gank on it, mwd, blasters etc.

For a young player like me, a Ferox with resistance rigs and LSE II's = a tank capable of surviving while I snipe for covering fire and run some logistics for my buddies. Oh and its somewhat cheap so when it dies, my tears are small. ______________________________________________ Sup brosef! Destry's Lounge is looking for a few good drunks - contact me in game. |

Congrats on the "war". I have thought about using my Alt to take out the other mining corps where I'm at. At least it would be fun. ;)
As for the Ferox, I was able to tank against a corp mates BS with cruse and torps.. at least for a while. ;) But, since the Drake came out, I've never looked back. Either one is a fun boat. But, Ferox is a lot cheaper to replace.
