Have any miners done income calculations recently? I'm interested in finding out how much a miner can hope to earn with a mining cruiser, Retriever, Covetor in high security space per hour of mining. And how much he or she can hope to make in 0.0 space. I know this depends on skills, but I would just like to hear some from other people on how much they are making without maxed out skills to get an estimate of how much ISK new players can earn through it.

For your mineral calculations there is an ore calculator, at www.evegeek.com, you can access it ingame. A good cruiser for mining is Exequror, a good frigate Maulus or Imicus, I haven't made any calculations recently, mining in 0.0 requires some experience, though you could learn there but it will be harsh. If you go mine crokite with a newbie mining laser all you will get is 2/cycle, so it's better to have some skills before trying your luck.

Check out Halada's Mining guide in the guides sticky at the top of this forum.
It will give you all the formulae you will need and you can just plug in the ore/mineral prices, but most of the ship comparisons are done for you.

Edited by: Stefx on 03/09/2007 23:42:23 To give you an idea, I make about 7.5 mil per hour mining high sec plagio in a hulk and T2 strip miners
As said above, Halada's guide is your bible if you want to become a good miner.

A miner's ship progressions should be:
Racial frigate to L3, get the mining frigate, train the racial industrial and L4 mining (T2 miners and T1 stripminers). preferably, but optional, get L4 frigate and then L3 racial cruiser, and mine a while in a mining cruiser Then skill up for a Retreiver (do not under any circumstances waste time with a Procurer). If you keep mining in the mining cruiser, fully optional, get L5 drones, L4 drone interfacing, L5 mining drone operation. Would be also a good idea to train Mining up to V and Mining Upgrades up to III Slowly train up for and save the ISK to get into a Covetor (still using T1 stripminers). Train Exhumers as soon as you can afford it, and save up for a Hulk (L4 exhumers prefered). Now, if you don't have the above-mentioned drone skills yet, get them. After that, if you want, you can think about getting the skills for mining crystals.

Only takes a few months to get to the part where you're thinking about mining crystals.

It's a bit less time than that, but you need to remember that EVE is very much a long term game. You won't be raking in the billions or ganking everyone in solo PvP right away, but with a little patience and skill you can be there soon enough. It's just a case of finding what you want to do whilst your getting to your long term goal.

Edited by: SublightNova on 04/09/2007 19:44:41 Yeah... I'm definitely here for the long run. I just hope CCP shows they care about their customers because from the number of petitions I've filed and from reading around the forums. It is hard to believe they DO care. Even though we as paying customers are paying THEIR bills.
But I've opened up a 2nd account last week so at least I do care.
I just checked with EveMon and I could fly a retriever in 10 days with my indy so that isn't too bad! :)

Well, it's true CCP are a bit dodgy when it comes to petitions. But you can see how much they like their community in other ways. The amount of information they give us is astounding. What other games have devs who come to the forums, and make posts detailing how their servers work, and keeping us updated on what's wrong when things go **** up?
Not that many.
The main problem is that the GM's don't seem to be able to settle on a single policy when it comes to certain things. And they also seem to be completely swamped with petitions all the time.

Edited by: Necrocavus on 05/09/2007 14:08:27 I had made some calculations. Omber gives about 96isk per m3. With a miner Rokh, you make 1040m3 per minute. In an hour(neglecting transport) you make 62400m3. This makes 5990400 isk. It is very bad value since 12BS bounty equals at worst 0.0 ratting place makes at least 6m(up to 11400000 at same place) without any loot. Also lvl4 missions give you -at least- 10-15m per hour.
Note: If you transport ores yourself, 40mins mining requires 20mins tansport with my Rokh setup. Note: Veldaspar has 72isk per m3 value.
