In another mmo that I used to play they had character respecifications. What it would do is allow you to restart you char using th base race that you had choosen. It would reimburse you at base market value for the skills you had purchased. It would then allow you to purchase skills at base market values(assuming you have the isk) and put levels into the skill up to the total sp that you had prior to the respec. It would only be given out by CCP say on a big aniversary or something as a reward to the community. What ya think?

Frequently Offered Refused Suggestion
You never "respec" in EVE, because there is no limit to "speccing", so no NEED to "respec". You just train more stuff and that's all.

You mean like if your corp gets into a war, all your industrialists and miners dump their non combat skills and respec for fighting and when it's over they respec back to their normal jobs? ---------------------------------------------- The glass is neither half full nor half empty. It's just twice as big as it need to be... |

Could be nice to see but I doubt it would be ever implemented tbh.
And if it ever comes out one day, you should pay for it. OR just allow a one-time respec, for example for character trades. I mean I traded mine sometimes ago and I'd like some skills it has to be remove as I don't give a damn about those. ----------

You have to ask yourself why the other MMO's have respec.
Most of those that have respec, has it because they have a limit to a characters abilities (Level cap in WoW). So inorder for a player to try other aspects of the game, they give them their choises back. Some MMO's, like Lineage, solves this by allowing players to de-level. Kinda what we have, but its easier to get back up in Lineage.
In EvE, we don't have any level cap. Yes, our skills only reaches lvl 5, but you are no limited to 20 lvl 5 skills.
So the answer is: There is absolutely no need for you to respec in EvE. You just keep speccin'

I think the OP wants to point out that if you want to go for another kind of ships/weaponry whatever, you have to actually TRAIN for them. I think he wants the respec thing as like, for example, instantly switch from forget Gallente blaster to insta-learn caldari missiles specs or something that kind. ----------
