The great tenor Pavarotti passed away this morning.
Although I can't claim to be one of the real enthusiasts of opera, he was one of the few that really stood out to me.
Rest in Peace Luciano, god knows you deserve it.

on another note: very fine space music for eve, which I also saw in some Anime a few years ago.
Madam Butterfly, by Pucini, I think. Which is operah. Pavarotti must have sung it a few times. ----------------------------------------------- "post with your main. delete your alt, you sad little exploiting metagamer."

Ack!
I need to call my mom. Sounds silly I know but she is a huge fan of his and my dad recently passed away so she is overly sensitive to such things lately.
It is a sad day for music too. He brought beauty to the world which is always a good thing.
R.I.P
One of my favorites by him: Nessun Dorma (from Puccini's Turandot....those of you who watched Britain's Got Talent will remember Paul Potts singing this)

Heading into work earlier, turn on the radio and have classical music etc being sung.. was thinking it was a bit unusual for that station.. flicked to somthing else.. then few hours later hear the bad news.. and realised the music earlier was a tribute to poor old Luciano..
One of those hugely famous names that will live on forever I suspect.

RIP. He had a bloody good innings considering his size and the type of cancer he was fighting. He did transverse the stuffy world of opera and gave it to the masses if you like buy doing world cups etc. Great man.

RIP Pavarotti
Sad day for music. He was the ambassador of opera in many respects. Greatly appreciated his work. Still listen to a couple of his in my family's old music collection.
I guess its time to take them out again for one last hoorah... -

And then there were two. (Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras)
RIP Pavarotti. Your singing transcended the boundaries of opera and communicated something universal.
