1. As a newby, will running missions earn more money per hour then mining?
2. Why do I sometimes see people with buy orders for like 50 of the same ship type? Why would someone want to buy so many ships?
3. If you have a structure on a moon somewhere, can you take ships you own and set them up to "guard" that structure? What keeps them from just getting blown away?
4. Is it really more profitable to make and sell goods v.s. selling the minerals for them? Does the finished product always sell for more then the parts?
5. If I buy a new ship, how do I "get into" the new one v.s. the old one?
6. Does the speed of warping ever improve or only the speed of non warped movement?
Think that's it for now! Thanks!

1. Yes - but it's harder and more dangerous. Be sure your ship is well-prepared before going into a mission, especially if you're going into a mission with a level higher than 1.
2. Because they want to resell them for a higher price. ;)
3. Player Owned Starbases (POS) can be equipped with guns so that they automatically defend themselves.
4. If you have Production Efficiency at a high level so that you don't waste minerals, it can be profitable. Do the math and work out how much you'll make either way - then you'll know whether to make something out of your minerals or just sell them as-is.
5. Right-click on the new ship and select "Make Active".
6. Warp speed varies between different ships. Generally, smaller ships will warp faster. There are also certain advanced ship upgrades (rigs, or "Ship Modifications" on the market) that will increase your warp speed. -----

Hrrmmm... I will try my best with this.
1. At first maybe yes. I guarantee you will probably enjoy doing missions more though. Check my sig for a guide that might give you more info about mining.
2. I suppose maybe speculation of the price going up so they can sell for profit?
3. *Waits attentively for someone to anwer*
4. Always? i would assume not, but there are producers out there that can give you a far bette answer to this. While not entirely player driven, the economy is effected by players.
5. ships button -> right click assemble ship -> right click make active ship (make sure you have the skills to pilot it.
6. I think there are skills that improve how fast you GO TO warp, but I think warp speed is a constant for each ship... Anyone clarify? ____________ Guides I like: Mining Guide V2.0.1 By Halada (Awesome guide!) |

Mining is problably better than level 1 missions, but by the time you get into level 3 or 4 missions, you will be making more from the missions. Of course this really depends on your skills. Salvaging can real boost your income from missions.
Originally by: Rock Brazen 2. Why do I sometimes see people with buy orders for like 50 of the same ship type? Why would someone want to buy so many ships?
Either they are going to use (and lose) them in PvP combat, or they are buying low with the intention of reselling for a higher price.

You cannot set up ships, but you can set up guns. The only thing stopping them from getting blown away is you and your buddies. The guns and other defences will only slow them down. In some cases you slow them down enough that it is no longer worth their time.

The finished product does not always sell for more than the parts. You can actually make money buying some modules and recycling them for minerals. Interestingly which modules you can profit from producing vs recycling is reversed for different regions. Example, some regions it can be profitable to make Nos modules, in others you can buy them for less than the minerals cost.

Right click Assemble, right click Make Active.

The only way to change the speed of your ship while in warp is to fit a rig. The item database is offline right now, otherwise I would provide you with a link to that rig. Generally it is not worth fitting. Warp speed is an attribute of ship class. Generally small ships have a faster warp speed than larger ships.
If you are refering to the time it takes to get into warp, there are lots of modules, skill and rigs that will improve your manuverablity.

4 if the item can be manufactered or looted, the price may well be below the cost ot manufacture; if only manufactured, the price depends on how efficiently the primary supplier in an area can make them, how much profit they want, and how much competition there is.
As far as minerals vs ore; once you get your refining skills and station faction up to where you don't lose too much to waste and taxes, refining almost always wins (it is much easier to cart refined minerals to the manufacturing centers where the prices are better).
