Ola chaps.
I'm planning to specialise as a command ship pilot but I don't know which to go for :O
As I'm Caldari and all my previous toons have been Caldari and I love shield tanking + missile spamming, the Vulture + Siege Warfare Modules would work for me very nicely - but there don't seem to be so many Caldari ships knocking around (apart from missionrunners ) to get a real benefit from the buffs The other catch being to fit the Gang modules would cripple it's DPS considerably and the Vulture doesn't get missile/drone buffs.
As far as the Eos goes, well for starters it looks uber sexeh and it gets the usual Gallente drone bonuses to bay capacity etc. As I've never really used Drones to any effect on any toon - ever, it's something I'm looking forwards to having a good play with and even if it's DPS is crippled by filling the high slots with Gang modules, it can still do more damage than the Vulture thanks to the drones and maybe with the right skills, fittings and implants maybe it could out-tank the Vulture too. The only minor issue is Armored warfare links would probably be more beneficial over information warfare links to myself and to the gang/fleet, but then it wouldn't get any command bonus to the armored warfare effectiveness. That and I'd rather fly a Cerberus than an Ishtar, which would mean I'd have to wait a month longer in cruiser skills to be able to fly it :(
I'm just wondering if there is enough Caldari/Shield tankers out there to benefit from Siege specialisation and cover my ass because of the crap DPS?
With the Eos, are drones really effective enough to aid it's DPS/surviveability? Are there too many Eos/Armored Warfare Specialists knocking about making it a waste of time anyway?
Thanks in advance

since u hav missles and shield skills why not a claymore ?, also in gangs i see more frigin usless drakes than many other ships so shield links very usful. although claymore is skirmish links siege links still a nice choice :D
yeah the claymore has guns skills on it it still has atleast 3 missle slots if u dont feel like using all ya links ur not wasting ya missle skills. as for dps i dont know claymore is faster shoot further, it works well against vaga's and some interc cus u can hit them at there opt so u scare em away from gangs and all

The vultures tank is truely a thing to behold. The Eos is a good solo ship with decent damage and a nice tank. The Astarte puts out so much freaking damage its scary. The Nighthawk can be either a really really good tank (second to the vulture) or good dps missile boat.
Yes I fly all 4.

I forgot to mention I'd rather use a Fleet > Field Command ship so I can run 3 warfare link modules (without using the command processor). As using the modules cripple DPS, I just want the best DPS I can with the remaining slots ;)
Now I come to think of it the Damnation is becoming appealing. I have sod all armour skills and no experience of armour tanking whatsoever, but having a dabble on quickfit with t2 fittings and skills and the right implants you can get atleast 15k armour with 85% passive resists before the command modules stack I wouldn't mind having to train armour skills, but I like the simplicity and predictability of missiles and their FoF ability can come in handy too - the Damnation gets missile buffs and I wouldn't have to bother with any gunnery skills to make the other ship effctive yay.
Bah!

Do not pick a worse ship because it is what you have the skills for, fly whatever you have now until you can get the ship you really want and just train for it. Much more satisfying.

For large fleet battles Vulture is the best choice. It has very good tank and the best DoomsDay survivability. I fly it now and I will fly it when I learn all leadership specialization skills. Yeah I will miss 3%/level bonus for gang mods other than Siege but oh well.. By the way - I dont see anyone mentioning times when you have to boost POS shield - thats where you truly benefit from well-trained Vulture.
On other hand there will be times when you dont need gang assist mods, i.e. when you solo pvp or fly in small gangs and this is where field commandships come out. Gotta tell you - Nighthawk didn't impress me (aside from pve :) ). My personal choice was gallente's Astarte because I already had some railgun skills. But that's just me, minmatar and amarr commanships are great too.
Once you start flying command ships - there's a big chance that you will want to train to fly all of them and max leadership skillbranch. So its your choice now, pretty much can't screw it up.
