Is there any particular reason we see mainly Abaddons and Ravens in this tournament?
What about Megathrons (or Geddons) for example?? In regular TQ pvp they are more than common, as well in fleets as small gang warfare.
Nobody able to come up with a decent setup for this tournament's rules?? Those got any particular disadvantages (compared to abaddons or ravens) that cannot be overcome?
Just being curious here about the reasoning behind what we have seen so far in this tournament.

In this tournament, everyone is dampened to hell and back in 95% of the fights. Therefore, turrets cannot fire. Missile launchers can mount FoFs and just keep fighting. That is why you see so many Caldari missile spammers... they're the only kind of weapon that is completely immune to all forms of EW.
Some go and field the Abaddon despite it being a turret ship. That is because it has immense powergrid, a resistance bonus, and the biggest capacitor of all ships allowed in the tournament. That is what allows it to still be a reasonable alternative to a Raven. other battleships just do not have what it takes, and faction ones are too expensive this time around.

Raven can maintain DPS without cap, can kill without a lock and can deploy a tank that doesnt hinder its DPS.
Abbadon has been mainly used as a NOS/Neut boat, its base stats warrant its use over over Battleships.
Mega directly swaps DPS for tank, not really a versatile or suitable sandbox battleship.

The advantage of a missile boat like the Raven is that with the huge use of damps, it can still fire FOF's. Missiles don't care about range and always hit. Turret BS once damped can't do a lot.
The Abaddon, is used because of its ability to have a huuuge amount of armour, and its massive cap. It can feed cap to other shis while soaking up damage.
Personally...I think we do ok without using any BS Ishtars are evil

I do see ofc the reason why Ravens are used (Fofs), I just wondered if there is no way to make other BS work in this specific tournament environment somehow, maybe including some surprise effect on the opponent.
(apart from apparently that BoB, according to TWD has already found their "unbeatable" setup ... which raises the next question: Why the f******* hell does not someone else copy that particular setup????)
