Power is what makes the world turn. You can whine all you want, but that will only get you to the World of Warcraft.
Too many threads here talking about blah blah pirates this, pirates that, carebears can't control 0.0 space, i wanna mine something better than scordite, yadda yadda...
Well the fact of the matter is this game is very much pvp oriented. To be successful, you don't HAVE to pvp, but it will take much more time "growing up" on veldspar than on arkonor. The best part about this game is that if you want something, TAKE IT. Nothing but awkward game mechanics stops you from doing just that. And in the right circumstances you can even get around the game mechanics.
It is more true now than ever. Player-conquerable stations are IN. You can actually control areas of space. Want that ark / bist / mercoxit? Slap on your guns and tell everyone else they can't have it. It's that simple.
Don't like it? Stay in 0.5 space and above! PvP is COMPLETELY consentual in this game - if you travel to a system that is of a security status lower than 0.5, you are consenting to pvp! Nothing stops you from staying in New Caldari and Nonni for your entire career!
Anyone remember what happened to the Melians?

And I was so looking forward to reading a interesting philosophical essay, and then proving you wrong.

Because this is a different topic.
Danton,
Please ... Shh. I realize that you are upset because the Greeks killed every single Melian man and sold all the women and children into slavery. Just because m0o, The Forsaken Empire, and other pirates and pirate alliances will do the same to you and the rest of your carebear ilk doesn't give you free license to flame and troll in what is a bald faced effort to get THIS thread locked. Although I appreciate your effort to (a) hijack this thread in an effort to (b) turn it into a flamefest, I am not interested.
Thanks.
Now, you can kindly bow down and pay homage to the pirates and pirate alliances that will henceforth control the organs of commerce in the world of EVE. Or, you can outfit a fleet to try to unseat us. Either way, you can be sure that we will all be having fun.
Bye bye.

You're a watered down simpleton even for suggesting that this game should be all about who mounts the largest fleet. Your closeminded views lead me to hope you choke, get bored and leave the game, again!?
You add nothing another 1000 fraghags can't instantly replace.

Now mind you, this comes from someone who only leaves the station when his R&D agent wants something or I bought a new BP.
This game was built around the frame of controlling space and fighting off invaders. If you don't want to participate in any PvP, dont leave high security space. If you want better ores to poke at for boring hours at end, your going to have to go chance it in lower security space where people that don't want you there can forcably remove you from the patch of space they decided was thier turf.
If you want that system/region, you will just have to become what they are and claim that area for yourself.
The time it takes to say "I want it and I'll take it by force" over "I want it and I'll whine and complain to the community til I get what I want", is highly weighted to the "I want it, I'll take it" group. Sure the 'carebears' have won a few battles and had CCP change some things in the game, but for the most part, they are striving towards a single-player game or a game that is purely PvE ithout any optinon of PvP.
My biggest gripe with alot of these 'carebears' is that if your not thinking like they are, you must be a greifer or a pirate. IMHO, if your not thinking like them your either the average Joe/Jane Eve player or your a greifer or a pirate.
Average people in Eve understand what CCP had envisioned for the game and they use it to their needs. They find thier niche in the game and are happy with it. If they find something horribly wrong or unbalanced, they report it to the Dev team.
Pirates, often times the regional alliances are mistakenly called this, are the people who do not claim any region as thier own, but are more of a roaming band of pilots, trying to extort money from people or forceably taking whats on someone's ship.
Griefers are the people who are exploiting some flaw in the game, or the fact that new people don't understand all the rules of the game and hope to trick someone into attacking them or buying their Probe they named Armageddon.
Regional Alliances are the average players who have decided that they want someting better than what the empire regions can offer. They moved out to 0.0 spaces and decided to claim a block of it as thier own. Anyone they don't want in there, they try to forcably remove. Consider regional alliances as countries in this world. They have resourses they don't wish to give up and are willing to protect it with force. Keeping out the average Joe/Jane is needed to limit the possiblity of a inside rebellion or takeover of their region. The less people they don't have dibs on the better.

We wouldn't want any special treatment from anyone sharing the goblins sentiment anyhow.
