I am disappointed with the new jump gate system. One of the news editors once said that Eve is about alliances - if you want to make it big, you have to work together. This is no longer true. When one corporation can destroy an entire alliance, something is going wrong.
The new stargates allow player pirates to move freely around any system of space. They form medium sized gangs and attack single unexpecting ships. The alliance cannot set up blockades to stop these pirates because there are too many entrances to the region. The alliance cannot form a gang and fight back because the pirates will simply do a midwarp and sit patiently until everyone loses their will to care anymore.
Hurrah, yey! *Continues to bottle frustration* I think it's time for me to take a break from Eve. I've had more fudge than I could handle - I'm practically diabetic. |

Maybe the alliances shouldn't claim more systems than they can actually defend then.

I don't think so, that is my perspective on the current situation. I would just like to point out to any small corporation who would like to mine rare ores in 0.0 systems : your only chances from before the patch just went down the drain.

As much as I hate the new stargates (and the existing highway system) I must say I agree with some of the other posters, and that's that a huge corp is the way to go now, and that maybe alliances should only claim what is within their means to protect.

Urm, if small to medium fleets move freely, as you say, then how can you say that small and medium corps cant mine in 0.0? If pirates infiltrait so easily, who's to say miners can't... ? ----------------------------------------

In my opinion this is a "correction" by CCP, a couple of hundred ppl should not be able to claim entire regions upon regions of space.
This forces those alliances to reconsider and to reorganize their areas.
I mean it was unrealistic how many systems an alliance could claim and have no presence to speak of in them.
Now you just have to look out not to overstretch your defensive capabilities.

It would be nice if the Ma and Pop store down the road had the same buying power as WAL-MART wouldn't it? But corporations that have established themselves, worked hard to become more powerful, wealthy, etc. do have more options... They earned them!

Most mega-corps have to follow laws and regulations closer than small mom-and-pops. Oddly enough M&P's offer better quality goods, for better prices than mega corps, because they are allowed to stretch their resources to greater lengthts than greater ones.
Those mega corps get most of their items/stock/product from the smaller M&P's, the only difference is the mega corps can take things and sell them to a larger market than a M&P can, and still stay in empire space. Well there is a way to fix this, it would make the carebears happy and the pvp lovers mad. UO did this quite awile ago, I'm sure most people that played remember.
They split the shards in two, carebears on one shard, pvp'ers on the other. You could jump between shards with the moon gate things. Of course on the carebear shard, every system would be 1.0 :D
Trust me you don't want eve to turn into this. You should be happy that so many people are working together in game. If a corporation has more hardcore active members than an entire alliance, then they deserve to walk over them. I will note that, giant fleet battles are still hindered at this time because of bad lag. If some day this gets fixed, then I'm sure some of these problems would get cleared up. ------------------

0.0 shoud belong to pirates and mega corps that can defend them selves... if the outlaws biult a gate system to make it easyer for them to claim there own land. im fine with it... concord dont regulate 0.0 for a reasion. thats because it belongs to pirates... im not a pirate myself and i stand by this statement the only allience i liked was cfs... im tired of big corps owning everything out there.... the only thing worse then a priate is a corp that pirates in 1 region and calls it something else

Sadly enough before this last patch the doods hlding eh Stain region not only owned Stain they owned two other regions cause stain was the only way to get ot theo TWO regions now theres like 3-4 diff ways into that spot aswell as Querious region that moo corp hold i think or someone, that used to be a one way get in and be able to won 3 regions now theres mor ethan one way to get in which is good because only having one way to get into a region makes it sooooooo easy to keep that region now its more fair for everyone =) AAAHH MY HEAD FELL OFF! |

It was a huge blunder to begin with to make ANY deeper region of space only accessible from a single jump point. Such bottlenecks are ridiculous, and should never have been in the game in the first place. If a corporation or alliance wants to control an entire region of space, then they should have to defend two or three entry points at the very minimum. If they can't, then they need to find a section of that region that they can bottleneck with their smaller force and claim that constellation instead..
I agree with what was said above... a relatively small group of 200 or so people should not be able to claim multiple regions easily.. to defend it should require alot of coordination. (Scouts located 1 or 2 jumps before the Defense point, large defense force in the "no access" border system, additional forces close by (alts perhaps) for backup, etc.
On the same note, that same group should easily be able to defend one or two dead-ending constellations... as in the one they picked to build their own station in.. (c'mon, CCP, you can do it! I think there are some corps out there who could possibly accomplish this now... or at the very least, an alliance could maybe pull it off.)
I do know one thing though.. once they do put the ablity to build stations in, they better damned sure not screw with the ore distribution again... to go through all the work to place a station in a strategic system with good ore protected, etc.. and then have it all replaced overnight with omber would probably cause a few people to break their computers in frustration.

Nyrram hit the nail on the head. The access to 0.0 space is ridiculous and so are choke points. But the new gates don't fix the problem in that they increase access from 0.0 areas to other areas but not from civilisation. There should be much wider frontiers - choke points in space seem pretty unlikely. Gates can be made from anywhere to anywhere apparently so why would it be like this?

Ah well, atleast they solved the way that i got pked every 5 minutes after i made a new account there that way. I remember playing 8 hours and i got like 20x pk'ed during getting ore... Then i quit the game after one month to play on some shards where there weren't many ppl and i only got pked once every 10-15 days by some guy named Knight or sumthing lol. __________________________
