Edited by: omiNATION on 10/09/2007 19:50:53 So far I've gone through what, 6 iterations of the thorax with increasingly advanced setups, but they all burn like the paper they're made from. Anyone suggest a good thorax setup? Or tell me what i'm doing wrong?

I swear by this for solo and most other things.
Highs 5 x Tech 2 Ions
Meds Tech 2 MWD Tech 2 Warp Disruptor Web
Lows 800 Plate Tech 2 Energized Adaptive 2 x Tech 2 Magstabs RCU
Works like a dream. Damage is damned good (better than tech 2 neutrons with one magstab) and it takes ages to kill.
Hope this helps

That works if you have Cruiser V and Med Hybrid IV/V, since otherwise the damage is almost the same as Light Neutron IIs with Small Hybrid V + 1600mm plate.

Ok, for a real reply this time.
Durable, cheap and durable:
5 x heavy electron blasters MWD, web, scram small rep, 1600mm plate, RCU, DCU, EANM (you can put damage mods instead if you are feeling like it).
You can upgrade pretty much everything to tech II if you have skills for it as well.
Ganky ganky: 5 x heavy neutron blasters MWD, web, scram small rep, RCU, 3 x magstabs (can put in resist mods, but c'mon...)

It's a T1 cruiser, what did you expect. The first mistake is to imagine it's anything more than an amusing and very expendable toy! They can kill pretty much all T1 cruisers before dying and even most Tier 1 T1 Battlecruisers (not the Brutix), but that's your lot. So fit a phat plate, a DC and Magstabs and go see what you can kill.

I've been using this fairly cheap and effective ganksetup in PvP (and some lowsec ratting):
High: 5x Heavy Ions Meds: 10MN MWD, Web, Scram Lows: DCU, 800mm rolled tungsten plate, 2x magstab, RCU Drones: 5x Valkyrie II
It's basically the same setup that been mentioned allready, but it has a damagecontrol instead of adaptive nanos because having those extra resists on hull will buy you a few extra seconds in small gang pvp to punish the target before/if you go down.

This, or the neutrongankecmdrone-setup. These are the only way to fit thorax, if you want to put on 1600mm plate there are ships like Vexor and Rupture which do that thing better. _______

No offense but if you want to fit a 1600 plate fly a vexor or ruppie or go back to 2004 :)

Dare to elaborate ? I fly this setup for months and so far this setup didnt loose any fight, i killed gank raxes, other 1600mm raxes, vexors, ruptures etc etc (not meaning what this babe do to afs/intys/frigs that try to tackle you), also couple 3vs1 situations. Tho it also very depend on player skill, not only ship and skills ingame.
So i think u should try this ship first and then say its not effective :] ---

Sigh, FINE. I'd like to see your thorax outperform this. Now that the nos changes hit the TQ, you can change the small noss' to rockets and do over 400 dps.
(Dont mind about the wierd shield resistances, someone broke the EFT.) _______

Been there, done that, and all i got was lousy tshirt :( But its more about player than ship if both got proper setup, i'm pretty sure that i would beat that rupture, just would need to slap some t2s on my rax too (i don't rly fit t2 stuff on t1 cruiser...). And as for vexor, range + web + smallblasters == dead drones *.* ---

But yeah about that vexor, its a closerange setup, so the drones are allways on scooprange. Thus its really hard to kill those, same thing as with myrmi; target the drones, they get scooped and get full shield-hp.
Secondly, your rax doesnt even have T2 SMALL guns?

T2 small guns ya, but thats about it. Also vexor may want to be in closerange, this doesnt mean he will be in it... ---
