this is the first time in ages its crashed. everyone needs to relax and play dice wars for a bit. its like risk but with dice and nice bright colours

Umm, boy, what planet do you live on? Ionass from Inner Sanctum here on EU silvermoon. The reason WoW players got time is because servers were down hours on ends. Extended Downtime stretching from 02:00 til 17/18:00 or even more in some cases, on multiple occations during a month. Realm downtime on WoW is something that occurs every now and then and they don't reimburse you for it.

it that case its the first in ages its crashed twice in one day. i was probably station hugging and playing dicewars instead of running missions like i should be

Well, you should've seen the original server designs. They had three choices, this server, Skynet, or the WOPR.
