There are 30,000 plus customers paying for this "service". If you are familiar with networking and software development, you understand the problems that can occur. However, these problems can be avoided with the proper architecture in place. So the question is, how do we as customers hold CCP accountable to "do the right thing"?

Apparently the answer is to whine and moan, because there are servers out there that /never/ have errors, and software products that /never/ have issues.
Man, the whining here's just as bad as over at the Blizzard forums.

Indeed, Lug. I was more referring to the origin of this thread, and the millions of 'My parents pay good moniez for this I expect perfection from an inanimate object' whiners out there.
They remind me of the people who threatened to sue my employer when cell service was interrupted by Hurricane Katrina knocking out every single one of our cell towers.

This is why huge fleet battles are bad! The guys that get it to gether are the 2k worth of players that are fighting these huge battles need to break it down a bit that is why we all keep crashing. Space is big really big. |

I agree they dont need multiple threads, But we do not need multiple crashes.

Except CCP's got it worse. When a server goes down in WoW maybe 2,000 people are ****ed. When EVE goes down... 30,000 people get together and ***** at them. I sort of feel sorry cus I'm sure somebody is out there now as stressed as can be trying to get this thing to work right.

Edited by: scrapironfish on 11/09/2007 06:46:05 We can post where ever we want to. The good paying members of eve are p i s s e d. And we want CCP to know about it. We dont mind the occasional crash but we are throwing money away here.

That can't be farther from teh truth. Seeing as how most bandwidth and storage is privately owned.

being ****ed is ok i understand but ccp is not to be wholy blames with 3 major fleet battles going on is what is causing all these craches. so have people quit these major battles and ccp will stop the sever crashes simple as that Space is big really big. |

Edited by: Zentock on 11/09/2007 07:03:14 Heres a suggestion, How about if the owners of EVE or whomever is pocketing the money that we pay to play here were to do something like refunding to each online user's account 1 days access for every 5 - 6 times the server crashes in that day. Would that make all you whiners shut up ?

Value is a variable term and therefore not an easy term to define. I find my value in payment to EvE Online is quite great considering the bonuses I get versus World of Warcraft.
This can, and will get better. Take a look at other online games, and see what happens there. Some statement about how there would be "reason" to fix the issue that is currently causing the server to fall over if they were to give 'refunds' is absurd as there is already reason enough. I'm sure the guys involved in this love EvE just as much as we do.
Kind of side-tracked, but yes, I can't agree with you on your statement, because as I have been playing since 2004, I find the value is perfectly fine where it is.

OMG people this is not whining.
If the server crashed one time and we rasied hell. Fine accuse us of whining.
But when it is this bad people are going to get p i s s e d. They need to come in here and see all the spam. Mayb that will make them fix this thing.

No, them staying where they are to get the server back online will get them to fix it, not wasting time reading the multitudes of "Server's offline" messages.

Still, it wouldn't take 2 minutes for CCP to post an official copy/pasted message to say they're working on it.

Yes, it really would.
EDIT: Also, does it seriously affect your ego if you were to post something useful? Has the ability to do so been drained by the excessive amount of implants you've used? Or perhaps you're nothing but a low-class troll with a taste for flame.
Whichever way, I need facts. I'm a logical person and facts are my friends. Assumption is the mother of all ****-ups, and to 'assume' makes an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'. I've learnt these things first-hand in my career. If I'm not told someone is working on it, I'll assume that in fact I don't know that someone is working on it, thankyou very much.

Nice to see the CCP damage control alt has been defrosted and sent into the fray.
Seriously though, you can debate semantics and all that other crap all day long. The fact is we are paying customers and have every right to complain, even if as usual it is utterly futile.
