Will this have an impact on the type of graphic card we are using?? Should i be looking for an upgrade there too or will my current card suffice(a agp card still). i'm just curious if the new engine requires bettre hardware of not. and if so can we choose to keep the old version?? as upgrading a graphic version on a laptop is not something you do so easily..so a min req for this new engine would be great..
Just curious and worried..

You will still have the option to not activate the new models, so you could normally have the same performance of the previous engine. Trinity 2 engine is mainly created for fix numeros bug in the game due to the old graphic engine and add New High Quality models.
For CCP: Do you plan to add an option for enable a part of new models : like 1 option for stargate , 1 for station ( or both in one option ) and one option for new ships model ?

as far as i know it's better for all players to use the new graphic engine trinity II, as the old one of revelations 2 - which we're all using now - doesn't benefit from the GPU of our video cards putting all loads on the cpu alone..
The new engine however will use the GPU and the game will be faster and the cpu will be less loaded than before..
And for new models they can still b generated by directx9 so upgrading to a dx10 videa card is not necessary..

If you are worried your 'old' pc/gaming card won't cut it, time to buy a new one ;)

If you have a graphic card that was designed for directx9, the new engine can't be worse than the old one that was not using GPU capabilities.
Guys, before empying your wallets in new video cards, test the new engine, well, wait for it, test it and test options with your card, then you might be able to think about upgrading something.
You should reallly take into consideration that a new engine taking advantage of the GPU fuctionalities (and not making 3d calculations with the CPU) means better usage of everyone's computer.
Again, don't panic, don't buy anything, just wait. (and if you're still buying a new card after testing the new engine, you will be happy that the waiting time has made some prices lower or let your budget buy an even better card)

The game do NOT make 3d calculations on CPU. It just do not use the programable pipeline of modern GPUS. If it was doing the 3d on CPU be sure not a SINGLE one of us would have more than 3 dps.

Correct, Eve does use the very basics of the gpu, such as "dear gpu, please render that polygon there, will you?", but does not use the gpus fast vectorprocessor for such things like "calculate a shot from here to that carebearship over there" or similar things. That will obviously change with rev3 :)

From what I understand about it:
The new graphics engine will be used as the only graphics engine in Eve, so you won't be able to switch to the "old" one. However, you'll have the option to use the current level of detail (same ship graphics too) instead of the shiny new textures and features. So even if you have an older graphics card, Eve will still run\look the same but with (hopefully) better performance.
