Mac and Linux lovers with a hankering for online economics and scandal will be pleased to discover that soon they, too, can join the world of Eve Online. CCP Games has formed a partnership with TransGaming Inc., who specializes in porting titles without actually redeveloping them.
Linus users could already play Eve by using Cedega, a software product that allows Windows apps to run in Linux. Response to that was positive enough to convince CCP that it would be wise to open the Eve universe to even more players.
Mac and Linux versions of Eve Online are due out later this year.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure she'll get mad anyway. Girlfriends are good at that.

Will this new pseudo-client have all the pretty graphics in OpenGL, or are we going to have to deal with DirectX emulation?
Oh, and the fine folks at Transgaming are only a little better than scam artists. Most games that run on Cedega usually run just fine in the GPL'd WINE, which is incidentally where Transgaming 'found' their original codebase. I'm not happy that CCP would partner up with these guys. @º¬íí-T«+ºH for all your political humor needs |

With a MAC version CCP could gain loads of extra subscribers. I hear that 90% of the MAC gamer base wants to play EVE, so thats 9 extra subscribers...

Just have the speex codec installed on the vent server. I did it on my PC laptop at home and connect to it on my mac pro perfectly.
Looking forward to not having to reboot into vista every time I want to play Eve. I had the trial of crossover and it worked well (~1920x1200 windowed), until a couple of weeks ago it wouldn't load past the splash screen...so back to vista I went =(.
I hate vista. I really do =/ Shoulda stuck with XP.
