nothing really
there's a big capital industrial ship out now, but it doesn't mine.
you can get yourself t2 strip miners, and crystals now too, although they might have been around when you left?
the hulk's probably arguably the best miner in game (although not being a miner myself, please feel free to correct me )
mineral prices will probably be far higher than when you left, take a look at the market history before you start mining away again.

Thanks to invention Hulks cost about 110M and MSM2 costs 6M. Mining foreman mindlink was fixed. We have named and tech 2 mining upgrades, few new implants (mostly worthless). Haulers can fit cargo optimization rigs. With conjunction with cargo expanders II itty 5 without GSCs can load 38k m3 cargo. Or even 49k with tech 2 rigs, but in this case, obelisk will be cheaper. :)
There is a new mining operation: "gas coud harvesting" but right now it's restricted for big alliances (deep 0.0 etc). In Revelation 2.3 gas clouds will be seeded broader.
Mining links were rewritten. They new gives bonuses to every laser (lasers, strips, ice harvester, gas clouds harvesters) and they gives: shorter cycle, less cap or longer range.
And finally there's rorqual. Big, fat target if you put her on belt, but has bonus to links, can compress ore, and has quite big cargo.
