I guess no one watched the eve alliance tournament. Range+tank=support great pvp ships. Raven is exceptional pvp ship.

The tournament has absolutely nothing to do with actual PVP.

Originally by: arbalesttom No im not wrong. I started this game as caldari. I have all the fancy t2 shield/missile stuff, good skills for caldari ships, and still it just suck. (okay, i managed to 1vs1 a hauler once in lowsec without getting omgwtfbbq'd). It doesnt matter how you setup your caldari ship, with 'ewartanks', raw-hp tanks or normal tanks, you will get wtfpwnd anyway, because the damage is just pathetic. Even with fancy launchers and 3x bcu's in low a blasterthrax will probably outdps ya....
Save yourself lost trainingtime, DONT train caldari.
I agree. CCP sucks too much to give caldari the buff they need. Train gallente and don't look back.

I hear everyone tell me that the Stabber is far superior to the Caracal for PvP. Tell me why my t1 fitted Caracal took out a t2 fitted Stabber after taking down a t2 fitted Punisher.
Learn to fly your ships. PvP is situational for everybody. If you feel you'd do better with another race's ships, train them. I didn't like lasers, so I trained missiles and drones.
Quit your *****ing. --- Amarr/Caldari, and proud of it.

"Caldari suck at solo PvP" "I once fought a 1v1 vs <whatever> and I got omgwtfbbq"
Anyone else want to post their experiences trying to add a web and a scram to a shield tanking ship and going solo?
They are very good in a gang. Not only you are always at optimal, your dps are constant, you can chose your damage type, fit a nice tank and gank. And EW screws up other ships in a major way.
Or you could try gallente, yes.

Caldari ships dont sux at pvp. Some of them is very good even in solo. The problem is they need to be fitted tricky. And if u want to be effective this limits the fitting possibilities. The prob is in almost every case exist an another ship from other race whit can be more effective in the same role, with less problems by fitting. So caldari can be used in pvp, but still would be nice to have a small(very small) buff

Caldari ships are unfortunately a niche ship when it comes to PvP. They're invariably stacked towards support through the use of EW and suck when it comes to DPS compared to other races. Caldari needs a decent DPS ship or two to balance against the other races. It's why I find the fact that CCP want to introduce an NPCing class of ship so ironic. We already have an entire race dedicated to it Make a Difference

I agree, Caldari are probabally the masters at support in PvP.
Solo though, the Crow is the interceptor I fear the most. With it's missile bonuses it can orbit at 18km and pound away at you, and with good skills, can perma orbit at over 6km/sec. That means projectiles never hit, and neither do missiles. You might get a lucky hit here or there, but if the pilot is smart, you're fek'd.
BlackBirds can tear up Cruisers and Frigs pretty damn easily with their EWAR, which if you get unlucky enough to get jammed once, you're looking at life inside of a pod, or back in the clone bay.
Sure, missiles take time to get there, and you don't have the omgwtfpwn wrecking hit... but no limitations on optimal and every single shot hitting, is pretty decent.
Manticore still tears it up with the kinetic bonus, although I'm still a fan of taking SB's back to the days when the dedicated missile race had the best dedicated missile ships... bring back the +1 cruise launcher to mantis!
Rokh can fit a mean ass tank, fought one with a frig, and 2 other BS's... took us a while to get it down, and he put the hurt on pretty nice, just glad 1 of the BS's was a dedicated repper.
Caracal and Cerb are both pretty mean, while it can be difficult to tackle in one, it's still a beast.
Caldari ships don't suck for pvp, Caldari pilots not knowing how to pvp suck at pvp.

If we were to take some sort of average of the effectiveness of ships at solo PVP by race, Caldari would indeed come out at the bottom. In these kinds of encounters, Caldari are at a disadvantage for several reasons. However, in gangs Caldari ships are by a large margin more effective than any other race.
This is how they have been balanced, and I have no problems with it - save that I'd like to see them perhaps 10% faster. If we break it down:
Bantam - excluded (mining) Condor - excellent fast tackler, as soft as any other Kestrel - excellent DPS for a frigate Merlin - great tackler, limited by a split setup
Osprey - excluded (mining), but can be useful in gang warfare Blackbird - probably the best EW cruiser in the game, and can even solo if correctly setup Caracal - Great DPS, versatile slot configuration. In packs these can be a frightening sight but alone are an easy target Moa - Needs some love. The tanking bonus doesn't really help when you've got four mids, and the split setup is restrictive. Recommend swapping the resistance bonus for a hybrid tracking bonus, and watching the Moa take it's place amongst the best cruisers in the game once more
Scorpion - the most feared EW platform in the game. The only reason this ship is ever ineffective is because it usually gets called first as a target. Can also solo to a degree Raven - with some ingenuity, this ship can solo very well. In fleets, this thing is one of the heaviest hitters in the game despite the problems associated with missiles. Rokh - overrated. Like the Moa, this needs the resistance bonus replaced by a hybrid tracking bonus.

As an earlier player said the problem is that most Caldari ships siuitable for pvp are niche ships and only really shine in gangs. With the exception of the crow there are few if any Caldari ships that ae "best in class" for pvp - maybe a Rokh as sniper if you are sure the fight will be at very long range.
My personal preference would be to take the real dogs of the Caldari lineup - Moa, Ferox and give them a serious makeover, making them usable solo pvp ships, they do not have o be great, just decent solo.

Current FOTM and game mechanics do not lean heavily towards caldari solo. It is still do-able though. I got owned by a damping drake the other night Then the next night got owned by a HAM drake They can solo but un-suprisingly your mission running setup with a scram stuck on it will fail.
PvP'ing solo, if you restrict yourself to just one race, is allways going to be difficult. Gallente get owned by minmatar ships for example. It is a matter of finding what ship class you have a strong ship in and working out which other ships it has a good chance of beating. Then picking your fights.
Some races currently have solopwnmobiles that do not need to worry much about picking fights. Guess what? They will all get nerfed, just like the old torp raven got nerfed. RIP javlin torps.

TFTFY
You can 1-on-1 in Caldari ships, but that's not where they are good since you have to compromise your tank to fit tackle. Ravens and a number of other Caldari ships are great in small gangs when you have other ships to tackle for you.

Caldari suxx in pvp, and best role their ships can have is support. Support Raven Support Drake Support Eagle. Support recons. No damage dealer, no good sniper. Rokh in the best case is only average in todays warfare. Good one PvP ship is only Crow... With 1*** setup. Look on Gallente - Mega, Arazu, Deimos, Taranis, Hyperion, Dominix, Astarte, Eos, Hyperion, Myrmidon... Or Minma - Sabre, Vagabond, Tempest, Muninn, Rapier, Hurricane. --------------------------------- "Zealot is sniper, because Dominix has better tank" (c) Goumindong R.I.P. <Torpedo Raven> R.I.P. <ECM> R.I.P. <Drake> R.I.P. My standard fitting had no chance against the damper drake since the drake was faster and cap stable and the pilot was good enough to stop me breaking out of scram range. (omg pilot skill actually matters )
HAM drakes are ******* evil when setup correctly and flown by a good pilot. Decent dps, full tackle gear, huuuuge effective hit point total.

Caldari no good for pvp ?! LoL Disreguarding range and tracking it means that the ships can focus on locking targets, damage and tanking. All caldari tank fabulous on shields. Shields are the best way to tank !!! Why ? Because unlike armor can regenerate using practically no capacitor energy. Caldari ships are like spartans, when fighting alone dont worth a dime. When fighting together they are unbeatable. Just try 3 on 3 ships, bc or bs, whatever you like, and the caldari will always win.
Caracal - one of the best cruisers
Kestrel - best damaging frigate
Drake - good damage, exellent shielding; fit it with a smartbomb and the drones manuvre is over
Raven - most used BS in the game, most hunted, still used after all this time
Crow - erold of death, if you see one its too late for you to run
Nighthawk - best command ship in the game, most expensive either
Scorpion - primary target in every fleet
Rohk - the little dot at 250 km away
Cerberus - exelllent heavy assault ship, can tank well on shields and armor, and do consistent damage
Do not let yourselves fooled by the slighter lower damages. In the end it counts who can hit the target 100 shots from 100 !!!

If you are a solo type player. Don't fly Caldari. If you are a gang type player. You better fly Caldari.
That basically sums up Caldari in a pinch. Wish they would be able to solo a bit more easily, who knows maybe one day we will have that ability.
