Hey, I'm looking into getting a Rorqual and would like some advice from the community on how to go about setting it up. So please contribute if you can, thanks.
I understand that its not a combat ship but it does posess some nice attributes which make it a nice ratter/potentially interesting mission runner? When I look at its attributes and fittings one thing comes to mind and thats the Chimera Carrier. Its similar in its slots (1 more High slots, 1 less low), fittings, and shield tanking capacity. So do you think thats the best route to take with this?
Any opinions, theoretical setups would be appreciated.

So let me understand this correctly... U wanna use a rorqual.. A RORQUAL... as a ratter/missionrunnerboat?

So uh hmm. The only damage related bonus is +20%/lvl to drone damage and Rorqual has 300m3 drone bay so that means 13 heavy drones with absolute max dps of 634...
It'll align extremely slowly so warping from belt to belt will be a pain and the best shield tank I could come up with for it tanks enough to handle any 0.0 spawn. With capital shield booster that's not that much of a suprise though.
I guess I'll...ugh. No, I won't even dare to post a joke setup. This is the first time even the most obscure and useless setup is beyond my forumwhoring abilities.

sorry to disapoint but from what i have read there are some wier restrictions on modules so as to make it ineffective as a combat ship. they do not want it to compete with carries so it was modified not to, despite similar traits.
Then again I don't own one, I can't fly one, I'm not even close to skilled in the area they are ment for so I may well be full of something.

only thing I can think off is to use a raven or something to fin the missions. Then BM the spot and warp in the Rorqual, turn on tractor mega wtf beam and loot in few seconds. Other than that a rni with fittings worth 1 bill or little more would do the npcing/missions way faster.

The Rorqual needs an industrial core, a clone vat if you want one, and capital tractor beams all in high slots. The mid slots should probably go to cap batteries and recharger's. I am not sure if there is a new module coming out for the ore specific bpo's to go into. Low slots can go for reactor controls or PDU's. You could substitute drone control units for a tractor beam or 2 to give you some extra drones. But it is probably wiser to leave the mining to the hulks.

If you are looking at it to loot your missions how about somthing like the following setup:
High: 3xcapital tractors (200Km range) 3x salvage
Mid: Capital shield booster T2 Hardeners (Em, Therm, Kin) 2 x T2 Inv Field T2 Cap recharger
Low: 2 x T2 PDS T2 DC
Rigs: 3xCCC
With great skills it can run the cap repper for 8 mins, not that i think its going to be needed for more than 1 or 2 cycles if all you find is rats.
Its rather slow, aligns at arround 40s, and I'm sure you are in trouble if pirates finds you :-)
As for combat, you have 300M3 drone space to play arround with, so fit you favorite drones.
