Dear CCP,
it cannot be that you initiate the jump into a system and you get the message 'jumping', then nothing happens for ages. And while you wait that the system loads you look at the enemy killboard and notice that you got already killed while you still not have loaded the system!
How can anyone be supposed to play such a game? It is absolutely frustrating to everyone.
If the servers cannot cope with the many ships, then just close down the system gracefully for a good while and say 'sorry guys, try again in a few days'. Everything is better than that what happens at the moment. It is absolutely clear that the server fails the load! And the amount of valid petitions will cause also cause some work afterwards. So, just take down systems with too much load.
If you don't understand what I am talking about look at the 0OYZ-G system now or a while ago the BKG-Q2 system.

I agree, they should fire those turds working on ambulation and hire people to fix the lag.

That is the thing...quite playable. If you engange 10 vs 10 or even 20 vs 20 then it is fine - eventually. But if you have 30+ carriers all with fighters flying around plus all the support ship, 150 vs 150, then it is NOT playable any more.
10 vs 10 I can play elsewhere, no problem. The amazing thing about Eve is the open end! Someone can just throw in more and then you have to cope with it...as long as everything works. But if you cannot play any more then it is broken and needs really some change!

By that same open-ended policy, you don't have to engage in large battles if you don't want to. The developers are working on lag, but it cannot be "fixed." Players constantly push the envelope so making 400-person battles playable will lead people to complain about 800-person battles and so on, and the same applies to market hubs like Jita. I objected to your statement that the game itself is unplayable, when really it's a small subset of the game - fleet battles and large market hubs.

The OP does have one interesting point: it would be nice if the game wouldn't allow you to jump into a system if you aren't going to be able to load it. There is nothing more frustrating than knowing you are dead before you even get to see the system.
Lag will always be with us, but perhaps we could reduce the deaths caused by it? My two cents.

The problem with that is that one side will fill the system up to the magic number where no more ships will be allowed in and they'll basically be able to defend it without firing a shot.

How is that different from the current system? :)

Because at least now there's not a magic number that the defenders need to field in order to obtain lag-based sovereignty. At least now you have a chance to jump in, even if it take awhile, lol.

I love posts like this, the person that likes eve for what it is, is bashed by those that dont like eve but play it anyways then just complain that its unplayable.
I have a idea, all you cry babys that think eve is unplayable, stop playing eve and all your troubles will be gone.
Wow I must be a genius, I just found a way to make the lag go away (get off the internet).
Oh, and I think that CCP should pull some of the guys off working on lag to work on Ambulation because the lag does not bother me and I would like to walk in a station. If you think im wrong by saying this, what makes you right?
Most of the eve community is starting to make my sick, they dont research what is going on, but like to cry about what they dont know.
All I can do is laugh at you all and make silly posts like this to ease my frustration.

They tried that. People whined, and whined and whined that they hated having to wait for a jump que countdown to finish.
So, CCP listened to their complainers and removed it. Welcome to exactly what people asked for. Next time, ask more intelligently.

Not a single one of those things matter if the game is unplayable during the biggest selling point in Eve, alliance level large PvP engagements, which I am sure you noobs have never experienced.

Edited by: CharlieMurphy on 15/09/2007 00:34:47 let me explain for those who dont understand why eve in some parts of 0.0 is crap and boring....
you live in 0.0 and its all good, nice rats nice ore etc etc and then 1 day some inconsiderate people come along and attack your alliances space lets say for the sake of argument they turn up with 250 people, that means your alliance also has to field 250 people or close to it or they are in trouble so here we all are, 500 in local and the fight begins... your side warps in to attack the evil invaders and you get just about enough time to lock somebody when...everything freezes - so your sitting there watching your screen, listening to people getting angry on teamspeak and because you have been in this situation before you are desparately trying to warp out, unfortunately your going nowhere cause the sever isnt letting you so about 5 minutues have passed and nothing on your screen is moving, but whats this?!! your shield seems to be dropping in large chunks wtf? your still desparately spamming warp and the server is still refusing your commands and now your in hull oh no! so, your ship died... after spending another 10 minutes staring at your ship on fire eventually it will disapear and you get treated to a lovely panoramic view of space, unspoiled by any ships or objects, at this time you will have to relog for anything else to happen and when you do you will find yourself back in the station cause you got podded
if you petiton this you will be told there is no evidence of any problems with the servers
i have seen this happen so many times now, i cant give an exact number but i would say that out of all the battleships i have ever lost 10% of them i have been banged to rights and shot dead and the other 90% i got robbed by the server in the manner described above
because im not rich and im not lucky enough to have some easy source of isk i am a player that gets by in eve by not losing my ships everytime this happens i need to go rat/mine/mission myself a new bs which is a 3 or 4 hour task if you dont count time spent getting fittings for it and then i take it into battle and its lost in exactly the same manner - 30 minutes of frozen screen
so.. i have to ask, what is the point? this is eve with all of the fun sucked out of it, i would love for a dev to reply to this and tell me what the point of it all is but i know they wont
this is why eve needs to be fixed before we get any of these exciting new features
Originally by: Siege And a totally new graphics engine And a totally new sound engine And a totally new UI And a totally new drone system And 20+ new ships
as far as i am concerned they can shove that lot, as the poster above said that is all irrelvant if the game doesnt work properly
yes its a rant but i dont care
