Following the tradition of the Eve Alliance Tournament, I was thinking we could have a Poker tournament in the same fashion. Each alliance that wished to participate would pay a buy in of something to the effect of 500-1000m and have a team of 4-5 players. First match would be single-game elimination, second matches the winning team would get to advance two players of their choosing and depending on how many alliances were interested we could bracket things down as such. The winner of the tournament would win the collective pot from all the alliances, plus a number of faction battleships or some other treats.
It could be a nice thing to do as a community that loves to compete with each other. Thoughts, feedback, constructive trolling..All welcome. |

Sounds like a decent idea. I know for sure TRI has some poker sharks. We keep a poker channel going, have seen alot of faces from other big alliances. I have taken Orange Species' money a few games :)

That may not be super open info. I'll wait and leave it up to a director or something to decide whether they wanna make it known to public.

Yeah probably best that the TRI channel stays secret, and just for TRI and personal friends (speaking as an admin) 
But there's the axe holdem channel, (I forget exactly what it is), which is completely public, and famous names such as eefrit and curzon dax hang around in there

id prefer it on a corp/pilot lvl tho and not necessarily an alliance tournament.

1. Making it into a corporation tournament might be a better idea as I'm not sure how many alliances would actually like to be involved in this and/or have the members who enjoy Hold 'em. Though if it were to be corps only we may have to adjust the buy-in to be more available to corporation wallet sizes.
2. If any corporations are interested in this you could go ahead and let me know in eve-mail or just show your interest on here. I imagine we'd need about 50 corps to make this worth putting on and having it be something really spectacular. Probably with smaller teams of 2 that stayed consistent throughout the tournament until the final round (as an idea).
This could be a great way for some people to make some isk off each other in game and open up an element of EvE I think a lot of people wish was here and perhaps don't know about it.

poker is allowed in iceland, its just gamble that is not allowed, if you are playing for eve-isk then there is no problem.

Ive been trying to join in on the TRI poker but Warfag keeps hogging a seat with his fat ass. I heared ppl go broke and ppl getting rich so far. Its awesome during pos warfare.
(we even delayed the uej op by 15 minutes because our glorious fc was on a roll. General Dynasty and me were not pleased  )
The stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones!

I should give credit where it's due, because after hearing some of my alliances mates on TS playing Poker with Tri. I got the idea of a tournament. I'm actually on the channel myself but haven't yet gotten any games with you guys. =)
If we could coordinate something I think it would work out well, especially since there seems to be at least some interest in it.

I hear a rumor that Axiom has been known to play a little bit of poker on occasion. Completely unsubstantiated, of course!

Games range from 11m to multi-billion ISK to buy in. Sooner or later, we'll be hosting an Eve Series of Poker. =p
