Move them to high slots since on my amarr and gallente ships theres almost always a free high or two that simply can't be fit with smarts or remote effects.
Do this and we can a better chance estimating against bait tactics vs spontaneous fights. Knowing the cap status can be invaluable in small gang stuff I just wish it wasn't mid as it technically has no aggressive property to it. As is no one is using them save compressors perhaps, move them to high or make them more useful. ___ Support Killmail Overhaul

Yarr signed, useless in pvp atm because of them taking up a precious med slot ... whereas on my deimos i would glady put that in the spare ghey high slot.

Please, no. Unpredictability is an important part of the game. Don't make it easier to degrade this element.
When fitting your ship, module selection is always a series of trade offs (speed, tank, gank, intel, ewar, etc). If it becomes almost automatic that everyone can or does fit a ship scanner, because it could go in a free hi-slot, then I think we would lose a lot of fun. ---- Some people say I have a bad attitude. Those people are stupid.

But tell me 1 reason why i would fit a ship scanner when i have to sacrifice a med or low unless there empire ganking.

Why would I trade a scanner for DPS? If I'm taking out a gun, I'm putting a salvager or something in its place.

Those slots are just perfect for tractor beams, NOS, Neuts, energy/shield transters, remote reps, smartbombs and salvagers.
As mentioned above, use what slots you've got. Fitting has always been a compromise. If you must have a ship scanner in your little camp, get an alt to scan down targets for you, or do without a fitting on one of the camping ships.
I know, I know, you want a toy and nobody want to just give it to you automatically. Welcome to Life. _______________________________

Tractors and salvagers on pvp setups? Doctor, heal thyself.
Dual rep ishtar, even with pimped faction setup atleast 2 highs are wasted, and technically a throwaway cap recharger mid. Zealot is similar story--the problem is that I'm not camping but roaming hence there is a premium on knowing who to aggress and who is likely ship bait. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Again, grab an alt and scan who's target and who's bait. If you use two accounts, your scanning alt can also help tackle. If just one account, you can do the alt thing, or run and grab your PvP ship.
Or just grab a yarring buddy and go kill things. Either way, there are no solopwn-omniutility mobiles. Work with what you've got or get a buddy/alt to share the load. _______________________________

It's been brought up before, still like the idea.

I can't really tell what you're arguing. A few posts above you said DPS is preferable (I'd agree, most of the time) or even something like a tractor beam (not so much). But then here you say that hi-slot scanner would make ships into solopwnmobiles? * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
