I couldn't tell whether he'd given me my nothing or not. It looks so much like the nothing I already had in my hangar, it's hard to tell whether I have more nothing than before, or just the same.

I have an even better deal:
Bring me the right tech 2 components and 15 megacyte, 35 zydrine and 5 morphite along with your original Nothing, and I will upgrade it to a Nothing II at no cost.

You'll get my honest word that you will get absolutely nothing, wich is more nothing than a regular nothing.

Edited by: Codaarix on 15/02/2004 15:11:51 Heads up guys - Beware of 'nothing' scammers
I opened a trade window with one scammer and quite clearly accepted my nothing. However on closing the trade I found myself with 1000 Megacyte.....
Now this sort of scam is enough to make a noob quit playing for good. Im an experienced player but even I fell for the old 'something for nothing' scam
Im off to sob quietly

These 'nothing' scams are going too far and CCP should do something about it!
Codaarix, drop me a line and I'll swap that 1000 megacyte for nothing and that way you won't be out of pocket.
Happy to help a fellow citizen of the EVE universe.

Jagar
It is responsible players like yourself that make Eve a pleasure to play.
Unfortunately, I was so ashamed at having been scammed, I trashed the megacyte so that at least I ended with some sort of nothing - albeit not the nothing I had set my heart on

Dear Hellspawn01:
Absolutely Nothing holds the rights to the VOID null nonentity originally licensed by no one to approximately 10,000 companies and institutions worldwide (the "VOID Licenses"). The vast majority of VOID nonentity used in enterprise applications today is a derivative work of the nonentity originally distributed under our VOID Licenses. Like you, we have an obligation to our shareholders to protect our intellectual property and other valuable rights.
In recent years, a VOID-like null has emerged and has been distributed in the enterprise marketplace by various nonentity vendors. This system is called Nothing. We believe that Nothing is, in material part, an unauthorized derivative of VOID.
As you may know, the development process for Nothing has differed substantially from the development process for other enterprise nulls. Commercial nonentity is built by carefully selected and screened teams of programmers working to build proprietary, secure nonentity. This process is designed to monitor the security and ownership of intellectual property rights associated with the code.
By contrast, much of Nothing has been built from contributions by numerous unrelated and unknown nonentity developers, each contributing a small section of code. There is no mechanism inherent in the Nothing development process to assure that intellectual property rights, confidentiality or security are protected. The Nothing process does not prevent inclusion of code that has been stolen outright; or developed by improper use of proprietary methods and concepts.
Many Nothing contributors were originally VOID developers who had access to VOID source code distributed by no one and were subject to confidentiality agreements, including confidentiality of the methods and concepts involved in nonentity design. We have evidence that portions of VOID Emptyness V nonentity code have been copied into Nothing and that additional other portions of VOID Emptyness V nonentity code have been modified and copied into Nothing, seemingly for the purposes of obfuscating their original source.
As a consequence of Nothing's unrestricted authoring process, it is not surprising that Nothing distributors do not warrant the legal integrity of the Nothing code provided to customers. Therefore legal liability that may arise from the Nothing developments process may also rest with the end user.
We believe that Nothing infringes on our VOID intellectual property and other rights. We intend to aggressively protect and enforce these rights. For the reasons explained above, we have also announced the suspension of our own Nothing-related activities until the issues surrounding Nothing intellectual property and the attendant risks are better understood and properly resolved.
Similar to analogous efforts underway in the music industry, we are prepared to take all actions necessary to stop the ongoing violation of our intellectual property or other rights.
AN's actions may prove unpopular with those who wish to advance or otherwise benefit from Nothing as a free nonentity system for use in enterprise applications. However, our property and contract rights are important and valuable: not only to us, but to every individual and every company whose livelihood depends on the continued viability of intellectual and intangible property rights in a digital age.
Yours truly,
Absolutely Nothing
