I'm not talking about the young, megalomanical super-scientist here, folks, so don't bother posting about his problems with Deedee.
I mean the awesome show from Showtime. I won't post any spoilers here, but after watching the first season, I'm awestruck by how amazing it is. Not only is it well-written, but the acting is amazing. I can't believe he didn't get an Emmy nomination.
Who else loves it? And are the books as good?
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

Yea LOVE the show, the second season should be starting up soon I think, if it hasnt already.
The first season is solely based a book Darkly Dreaming Dexter, and I've thought about getting the book to read just because the show is so friggin awesome.
Second season is said to be taking a route other than the book series went, so lets see if its still as well written.

"As per IMDB, Season 2 is set to air on September 30, 2007. On July 17, 2007, the first two episodes of Season 2 were leaked on the internet" Ooo time to go find em :)
*** Possible Season 2 Spoilers from the Description on Wikipedia ***
This season is not based upon the second novel of Jeff Lindsay's Dexter series, Dearly Devoted Dexter. The part of the ocean where Dexter dumps his bodies is discovered by treasure hunters, which sparks a manhunt for the so-called "Bay Harbour Butcher" that draws in even the FBI. A cult following begins to form behind the "Butcher" when it's discovered who his victims are.[2] Dexter also seems to be having problems executing his latest victims. New cast members include Keith Carradine as Special Agent Lundy, and Jaime Murray as Lila, an ex-junkie artist who becomes Dexter's ally.[3] The role of Rita's son Cody has now been re-cast with another child actor.

Some of the reviews about the book, on Amazon show that the book isn't as good as the TV series. Which is strange as it's usually the other way round. But if you find it for cheap and enjoy reading then go ahead.
Also I just watched season 1 and though OMG this is amazing. 2 episodes from season 2 are on Stage6 or possibly on torrents somewhere since they were apparently leaked. I can't wait for it to officially come out. 30th Sept was the date I saw somewhere.
Also the music fits perfectly, I just wish some of them were longer so I could listen to them like proper songs. Soundtrack can be found on Amazon or other naughty ways.
I kinda figured Deb's bf was the guy they were looking for since they featured him alot but the twist in the end was brilliant. Well worth a watch. Great scriptwriting, acting and production.
My sig got nerfed :( When will it all end? |

Iunno, I found the book to be better than the series. Ive yet to read the third though.
The first book in particular was very good I think, it was good enough to base a big money series off of anyway ;). Dont go for a cheap copy, get hardcover, the only way to buy any book you actually want.

<3 Dexter.
I think the real charm of the show is Dexter and his problems with human relationships.
Well, it is for me anyway.

Dexter is a rare case of the filmed version being better than the original book. Excellent show. Excellent casting. Too bad I canceled my Showtime subscription, because Dexter was the only thing worth watching. Their MMA show was good, just not on frequently enough.

I don't know that you can fairly equate Dexter to other filmed books. Most books are made into movies of 2-3 hours. Dexter has almost 12 hours to work with, so it will be a much better adaptation than almost any film. Had it been scrunched into a movie, it would have sucked.
Also, I just saw that it won 2 Emmys in the creative/arts category, along with 1 for BSG. woot!
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

Edited by: Kysumi Tsun on 17/09/2007 10:34:59 The show is very well written & Dexter's character well developed.
There is a small-voice that wonders if I should be enjoying a show about a serial killer though...the nonchalant manner of killing is a little creepy -but I guess the fact that it is creepy is of itself revealing. I'd be worried if it wasn't that way.
Overall an interesting series for a mature audience.
Edit: If you can't get Showtime but want a taste try this

I absoloutely adore dexter, its an awesome show, and the first 2 episodes of season 2 make it look like the second series wont be a let down either \o/
Side note: I am a time traveler who went forward in time to watch them, I do not condone internet piracy *looks shady* But to be fair I will get them on DVD when they come out so they cant complain.
PS. The future is awesome you guys should join me, we have flying cars and everything!
