Some people in the USA, the citizens of this country, actually have the gall to say that we shouldn't mourn for 9/11 anymore and that it should be left in history books where it belongs. People were mad at others for leaving flowers and tokens of mourning at a site dedicated to the twin towers on this september 11th.
Do you know how sick in the head that is?
not any sicker then the easy access to handguns in the USA.

Ya. It is so much harder to get guns anywhere else in the world. Stop watching movies.
i live in the US, and have lived in europe and asia. to find another country where people like to shoot another as much, you have to go to a war zone (or south africa).

It servers as a call to arms and will forever be the day the US stopped taking anymore BS. This is why calling off the war that most candidates for the next election want to do is the worst idea ever.
Stopped taking BS? How can you say that with that moron Bush still screwing/running your country? Christ, Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11, yet you ass hats rolled in there to make it considerably worse than what it was under ****** *******.
EDIT: the stars are hte former leader of Iraq
Bush is not a moron. Bush is a submoron, leading our great nation of mediocracy into ruin.

Causes of Death in the USA in 2001 (actually 2000, but we'll extrapolate to get the 9/11 numbers in).
Tobacco 435000 Poor diet and physical inactivity 400000 Alcohol consumption 85000 Microbial agents 75000 Toxic agents 55000 Motor vehicle 43000 Firearms 29000 Sexual behavior 20000 Illicit drug use 17000 9/11 3000
maybe this is why we should get over it...

Originally by: Corwain I can't even believe the ugliness towards Americans that has come out in this thread. Up until this point I really haven't experienced many negatives as an American playing EVE, but this thread is just nasty. First off, the OP objected to a corp name making light of a national tragedy. Which nation the tragedy happened to is beside the point, I'd be supporting the OP weather the corp name was "Boxcutter Terrorists" Or "Bombing Ireland". Killing people ain't cool, killing Americans isn't an exception to the rule.
I knew people that died in the WTC, and NEWS FLASH, not all of them were Americans.
I'm suprised at the community, here I thought I was playing with mature, enlightened gamers. I feel like I'm back playing Halo 2 with the 12 year old Americans harassing the few Europeans that played online, but from the other side, and this time it's not 12 year olds acting like they're 12.
Come on, stop throwing around stereotypes and trying to blame individual citizens for how the US gov't works! In the UK you can vote for whichever party you want to and you're guaranteed representation, albeit small. In the US you vote for someone and you don't get majority vote you don't get any representation. I didn't make the system, I just have to live in it. I'm just a college student trying to make ends meet working a full time job and taking full time classes, and playing a bunch of EVE.
Rule #2 in the ToS says that ethnic and racist comments will get you banned. While America encompasses lots of ethnicities the posts here read the same as racist or ethnic slurs. I think the mods should go through, and ban those in this thread that are posting these comments. I would say the same if it was an American saying something like "Shutup and go eat some crumpets and drink some tea! Nobody cares about your friends that died." BAN.
and I live in New York, and can completely understand the animosity toward American world policy. I don't take attacking "Americans" as a personal attack, there's no point, I know what other peoples think of the US.
personally, I don't think "Boxcutter terrorists" would be considered an ethnic or racist slur, more tasteless or humorous depending on your point of view. if CCP was an American company, I have no doubt the name would be quickly banned, but it isn't. but America is much more Politically Correct then many other places, for better or worse.

Maybe I'm being thick but I don't understand the significance of the name. Clearly it has some for you and I guess that is what makes this tricky.
In all likelyhood, CCP will not see the significance either and consequently will not see the point of imposing anything on them.
It's kind of like having a character with a name that is a swear word in french I guess. If it was in English then it wouldn't be allowed but because it's an officialy English speaking game... dunno.
The hijackers that took over the planes that were used in 9/11 choice of weaponry were box cutters as they were a bladed tool that at the time airport security did not consider a weapon.
and the only reason the attack worked is that people were used to hostage situations, not suicide attacks. it would never work again.

Car accident.
God, some people...
read the stats, he's right. we would be better off banning tobacco, cars and fast food over anything else.

Originally by: StabThigh That doesn't matter, we are talking about a corp who took their name specifically from those who commited 911. Spouting statistics about how the rest of the country died that year does not change the fact that their name[boxcutter terrorists]-is deliberatly trying to be offensive.
a lot of things are "offensive" or "not offensive" depending on your viewpoint. the question is whether the name violates the EULA or not.
for: "The System may allow you to communicate information, such as by posting messages in chat rooms, on bulletin boards and other user-to-user areas (collectively, "User Content"). User Content that you cause to be communicated to the System may not (i) violate any statute, rule, regulation or law; (ii) infringe or violate the intellectual property, proprietary, privacy or publicity rights of any third party; (iii) be defamatory, indecent, obscene, child ****ographic or harmful to minors"
against: "EVEÖ has a "TEEN" rating. Parents may find it inappropriate for use by children under the age of thirteen (13). CCP has established Rules of Conduct (discussed below) for players accessing the System and may, but is not obligated to, monitor and take action regarding inappropriate conduct. Nonetheless, it is possible that at any time there may be language or other material accessible on or through the System that you may consider inappropriate for children or that may be offensive to some users of any age. You acknowledge that other players may transmit communications or content, or access to content, that you may consider inappropriate or objectionable. CCP does not, as a matter of policy, prescreen the communications or content transmitted by each player and is in no way responsible for the communications and content transmitted by players of the Game."
hmmm.
