Last week I filed a petition against the name of a corporation which I felt was truly tasteless, mean spirited and downright unacceptable, even for EVE.
I didn't expect instant action, however it took no less then 5 days to get a "Thanks, we'll look into it." OK, so be it.
However, it would appear that the corp in question is still flying about, more then a week later, sporting a name that, without any subtlety, recalls the people who perpetrated the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001 and the weapons they used. I find that deeply troubling.
What exactly does it take?

Some people in the USA, the citizens of this country, actually have the gall to say that we shouldn't mourn for 9/11 anymore and that it should be left in history books where it belongs. People were mad at others for leaving flowers and tokens of mourning at a site dedicated to the twin towers on this september 11th.
Do you know how sick in the head that is?

I am not saying mourning your dead is bad. I am saying that enforcing laws based on your feelings upon others is bad.

Please understand that EVE is a worldwide game. So what troubles the so-called "western world" may be looked upon totally different in other countries.
So, if someone wants to praise the heroism of the freedom fighters of 911---let them, even if you think about them as terrorists.

This was a question about CCP policy, NOT the US, 9/11 or anything else. Eve has enough politics without dragging the real world into it.
So CCP, what is your policy on offensive names?

Define Offensive.
The matter here is who finds what offensive, not the did-the-jews-do-9/11-or-was-it-kuwait kind of crap thta belongs on ebaumsworld.

there is nothing called freedom of speech on this server or in this game. the decision is all up to CCP not any american notion of what they think they have the right to.

Duh.
There needs to be a policy that defines whats bad and what isnt. Not some random player petitioning nay name that he doesnt like. My mother died last year, and you dont hear me whining every time someone talks about supercaps, now do you?

Quite the opposite, anything that would be considered obviously offensive in any part of the world should not be used in EVE.

All I am asking is: Where is the line, if any, drawn?
It's not about freedom of speech, I don't think we get that in this game. Else no one would even suggest this particular thread should be locked. Nor would a great many corp names be ***** (bleeped?) when listed in these forums.
I understand and accept, perhaps even appreciate, that this game is "anything goes" to a much larger extent then just about any other online game in existence. That's part of the appeal but without a doubt something of a source of discomfort.
I just want to know what is acceptable and what is not. I don't even care to hear any justification.

Yes. Unless you actually tell us the name of the corp you're being too vague. Obviously if it's just the use of the word "terrorist" in a corp name, I think you should **** off. If it's worse than that, well lets hear it.

Now, do I need to remind you that "freedom of speech" is considered offensive and even illegal in many parts of the world?

Indeed. And your name, I feel, is tasteless and downright unacceptable as it shares an astounding similarity to Alexandros, son of Priam, and provoker of the War on Troy, which killed many... which, I feel, you are samelessly mocking instead of mourning.
IOW, too soon?
