If I dont wanna pay for 2 months for example, the only way to stop paying is by cancelling the account, right?
And in this way, if i feel like playing again after those 2 months, will I have to start all over again?

No you can cancel the account, then re-activate when you come back. Ive heard they keep the character info for atleast 6 months.

Not only do they keep your char on file for a couple months, but most companies e-mail you towards the end reminding you that your char will be erased at x date. They don't want to lose a customer, so it's worth it to keep chars on file a couple months and let people come back.

actualy i beleive CCP has stated that they can keep chars in the DB for quite some time without it haveing much of an efect on things, thow this was stated along time ago im not sure if it still is the case, you may just whant to contact custemer suport and ask them

As far as I know... They haven't yet needed to delete any characters. 
If I'm wrong about that, somebody please correct me.

Thx for the good info, and it would be indeed excellent if they emailed us telling when the account would be deleted ( not that im thinking of doing it) :)

5 months of abcense havent been a problem , one of my corpmembers did just that and he got his account activated and didnt loose anything (except training-time)
