I'm starting to get mission running ships I'd rather not loose. I'm more concerned about suicide ganking than getting blown up in a mission though.
Is suicide ganking common and if so, where should I avoid?

Most suicide ganking occurs when someone is hauling a highly valuable cargo in a tech one hauler, cruiser, or shuttle. Remember that the likelyhood of getting suicide ganked is a formula like this: (value of cargo/fitting)/(number of ships needed)
Therefore if you're carrying a bunch of megacyte in a shuttle it's somewhat likely, but if you're carrying that same amount of megacyte in a Raven you're not likely to get messed with. Suicide ganking is still pretty rare, you shouldn't have to worry about it unless you have a faction-fitted Raven or you're carrying around 500+ mil of goods in a T1 hauler.

It happens all over eve at any time and mainly to Haulers with valuable cargo so if your not in hauler or with a hauler with not so expensive cargo then id say your 95% safe from suicide gankers.

Just tell us in which system you run the missions in this costly ship and we'll come and ... investigate the cases of suicide ganking in it

To the OP: just don't put Estamel's Invulnerability Field on and you should be fine.

They like Suicide ganking my empty haulers with tech 2 gear, and I end up making a nice profit off the gankers. Or they dont bother becuase my ship is full of other ships.

My advice would have been to not post with your mission runner char because now people can just run a locator agent and find you wherever you go. Makes this post kind of useless _______________

Just don't haul more than 20 million worth of goods in a T1 hauler. If it's more than 20 million, then a cheap suicide battleship would be able to make a profit off of it. And there is no way you can survive a Battleship's alpha strike before getting popped. If it's less than 20 million you just then have to worry about suiciding cruisers and frigates. And it is possible to tank yourself enough to survive such an encounter (so long as it's just a single suicider).

I would really, really avoid the Mies system in the Crux constellation of the Essence region. It's the worst place for suicide ganking period. The worst part is you never see it coming in Mies....

No one is going to be able to suicide gank a uber fitted mission Raven. They just won't have the damage to get through you in a single hit, before CONCORD come kill them. The best they can hope for is to have a whole massive, massive gang ready and waiting specifically for you, and that isn't going to be worth it.

If you can gank a frieghter in high sec why wouldnt you be able to gank a Raven? Try and fit your Raven with 5 bil worth of modules, see if you will get ganked. Its done with drones so you will receive the damage as long as ganker ship is alive so it really has nothing to do with single hit.

You don't need a BMW M3CSL to drive to work in either...but people do it. Probably because they can.

They scan cargo holds and attack if the loot is good enough.
It happens in high sec mainly as it is supposedly safe.
But we all know the three rules of Eve.
1) It is a game.
2) Nowhere is completely safe.
3) Adapt or die.
