I'm about ot start a corp that does it in logistics and transport. As we will be transporting some highly valuable wares, so i have been thinking of ways to escort them. i already got a ew good ideas that is ingame already, but one thing i was thinking about is: Why don't we have a remote warp drive stabilizer? We have sensor boosters and the twice opposite: sensor dampners. We got mods that do dmg to thers, but we also got remote reppers (shield and armor, and structure?). So if we can jam others, why can't we "rep" others warp drive engine.
The mod itself could add a +1 to warp drive strength, just like a normal warp stab, but the ship using it would loos 1 warp strength to a minimum of 0 (if they have 1 warp strength, they would have 0 and can't warp). Then make it require cap like other reppers. ----------------------------------------------- First one to tag me get's a free beer and a free BBQ! |

finally a guy with brain enough to realize it is NOT about pownage ships but finding something usefully and balanced.

It would be a godsend to freighter escorts. I don't think it would be game breaking when you consider the effect of ECM and damps (drops points and any other effect)
Still , you have to consider that it bypasses the warp stabs' lock range / speed penalty. So it should have a very limited range like remote reps to make sure the descrambler ships are within or close to scram range themselves. Otherwise , nanogangs would be completely impossible to catch... imagine a gang of vagas and stilettos descrambling each other whenever one is caught in webs or needs to warp out.
This mod would definitely enhance spider tanking tactics. Focus fire could never break the formation unless you jam enough of it (or add lots of points along with lots of damage) though the gang itself would have trouble warping out as a whole. Descrambling vulnerable but crucial primary targets (logistic / ewar ship) may help the gang survive or disengage.

This idea actually crossed my mind a little while ago, but I dismissed it figuring you'd just get people putting alts in destroyers to remote-stab up their indies when travelling in high sec. 100% safety...eh.

No more overpowered than an alt in a logistics ship in a deadspace with you. Alts suck, but they shouldn't be used as an argument against a valid suggestion, one which I support incidentally.

as well....
The ship using the remote stab, would it need a wcs of its own, to use 2x remote stabs on someone?

Edited by: Fortuna Cournot on 19/09/2007 10:39:27 I would support a remote warp core stabilizer - I would not support a remote warp core repairer.
The difference is that the stabilizer can only be used in advance and will usually only on be used on an important ship, while the repairer would be able to help a random scrambled ship to escape.
