You need to fly to the station that it is located at in order to collect it.
There are a few ways of doing this if you don't want to move your current ship:
1) Buy a shuttle, and travel to your new ship.
2) R-Click your current ship and select "Leave Ship". This will, as it says, make you leave your ship and you will end up in a pod. From there you can undock and go to collect your new ship.
Hope this helps

Thanks again!

If you already know the skill, then yes, just select it and start training. If you don't know it yet, you will need to buy (or laster earn) the skill book, click on it to start training.
Also, take the time to do the tutorial and newbie missions (your first agent should send you to a second). This will show you how to do more things and earn some initial equipment. It really is worth your time.

You can only have one up at a time; if you start a new one, it asks if you want to suspend training on the old one (you don't lose any ground in the old training -- try to have a long time skill training for when you are ready to log off tonight.

That's the only way to train skills, actually.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

One thing you CAN do is START training available skills and immediately switch to the skill you actually want to train. This will allow you to "get rid" of the book AND you can switch to training that skill at any time, say if you're not at your home station and need to switch to a new skill.

Correct - this is a good idea as you can't lose the book once you've started training it.
I generally start training a book as soon as I buy it. I only transport it to my home base if I don't have all the pre-reqs.
Never, ever fly combat or dangerous areas with skills books in your hold unless absolutely necessary (especially ones you have all the pre-requisites for, as there's no excuse for that).
