can anyone recommend some systems/stations to try that have good(ish) drops, so far ive been attacking convoys in the perimeter system and best drop so far has been a big stack of 125mm railguns.

She is lying.
The best place for convoys is ROIR-Y, you should be there at 20:00GMT for the best loot drops. The convoys are really tough, so I would recommend a tempest with 6 1400scouts with alot of named dmg mods..they sometimes fire back, so you should equip a x-large c5-l sheildbooster too. I also believe if you have a cargo full of megacyte at the time, they will drop better stuff.

Hehe
I dont wanna sound horrible or negative, but most of the people you find in eve are greedy, the greedy ones are usually the wealthy ones, people who know where good convoy spawns are..will be wealthy and greedy and will be tight fisted with their info.
Your best bet is to go onto the world of eve part of this site and look up the different corps and what they make, look for a corp that seems only to make expensive stuff and camp one of their stations. Thats the best advice I can give you really.
You can also do this ingame by clicking on npc corp info and check out recent buy and sell market activity.

If you can find a person to sell 21807 small shield boosters to @ twice megacyte price, yes. They do :] Or perhaps trash... all 80k of it in a single drop. I hear if your REALLY good at trading you can get a few battleships from that kinda drop..

Harvesters, but haven't gotten any post-Castor.
Now if I hit a convoy I get mainly massive amounts of trade goods which you can find some demand for nearby, or large amounts of recyclable modules. The advice above about checking the corps out for what they usually sell is a great way to find what you wanna acquire. Hitting convoys is an alternative somtimes to mining and trading goods, if you don't mind the slight npc corp standing decreases.
On a side note, I notice sometimes if I am far enough from the station/sentries that they don't see me at all and I don't take a hit. but lately even out as far as 150km away the sentries will target me (but not shoot) and I get the standing hit. I usually don't get targeted and take a hit if I was about 100km or mroe away, but not lately. Anyone else notice similar things happen to them? One last question : if there are Concord or faction police near same station that a convoy is in, do they react if you attack the indys?
