Personally I found the wheel of time series little more than an accumulation of ripoffs from various other fantasy books, put together in a pretty kitschy way. Better than harry potter, but I wouldn't read it twice. Rather addictive though.. RIP
The universe is hostile, so impersonal, devour to survive, so it is, so it's always been.

Was very saddened by this :( I knew something was up after Wilson put up the last blog saying he told him and Harriet the ending.

no idea who he was personally, sure he was a great guy. sorry he's dead and all.
his writing was... lacking, shall we say? you could call it a pastiche of tired cliches, the fodder for tired, lonely 18 year old emoboys, yearning to be free of the drudgery of homework and 9pm bedtimes.
and yes, i've actually read some of it. it's kind of like pouring acid on your eyeballs, except with enough morphine coursing through your veins that you don't quite realize that you're damaged for life until you can taste the liquid dripping down your face, and go
what?

******* CARE! He did not play EVE, so his death is irrelevant. And even IF he did play EVE, it's irrelevant because this is a facking game. Why is it so difficult for people to understand that people playing a game for fun is not really interested in all the thousands of people dying everyday.
Actually, let's all make hundred threads a day about dead people. Yes, because people die all the time, it is normal.

Didn't really need to see this in here really, Out of Pod would have been a better place to post about it.
It's a series that I've heard about and wanted to read but never got around to it.

Chicken Song
Its the time of year Now that Spring is in the air When those two wet gits with their girly curly hair Make another song for moronic holidays That nauseate-ate-ate In a million different ways From the shores of Spain To the coast of Southern France No matter where you hide You just can't escape this dance
Hold a chicken in the air Stick a deckchair up your nose Buy a jumbo jet And then bury all your clothes Paint your left knee green Then extract your wisdom teeth Form a string quartet And pretend your name is Keith
Skin yourself alive Learn to speak Arapahoe Climb inside a dog And behead an eskimo Eat a Renault Four with salami in your ears Casserole your gran Disembowel yourself with spears
The disco is vibrating The sound is loud and grating Its truly nauseating Let's do the dance again
Hold a chicken in the air Stick a deckchair up your nose Yes you'll hear this song in the holiday discos And there's no escape in the clubs or in the bars You would hear this song if you holidayed in Mars
Skin yourself alive Learn to speak Arapahoe Climb inside a dog And behead an eskimo Now you've heard it once Your brain will spring a leak And though you hate this song You'll be humming it for weeks
Hold a chicken in the air Stick a deckchair up your nose Buy a jumbo jet And then bury all your clothes La la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la La la la la la la laaaaaaa . Full Spectrum Mercenary |

Oh, now the WoT series will truly never end. I gave up after the 10th book... I just could not stomach any more of hair tugging and who was wearing what and the introduction of another 8907390875 characters with names that are impossible to remember.
Was fun while it lasted.
RIP.

I was saddened to hear this news, i have been reading his books for most of this year, and enjoying them a lot, he was in the middle of book 12 when he sadly passed away, i hear that the editors do have the end of the story and may have somone else write in his style but will not be the same.

fine fine, out of pod it is:) my apologies. But yes, it is too bad. And while I take no offense to critics of his works, I ask only that you refrain from uber negative commentary in a thread of this sort...I myself greatly enjoyed his works, and while he did indeed wax verbosely on many issues, he was a terrific author. Second only, perhaps, to Terry Goodkind, in this modern day.

Now that I'm done cursing . . . I'm sad, for both selfish and unselfish reasons. I was looking forward to reading the end of that series, though it will never come now, and because fantasy literature has lost a magnificent author. May he rest peacefully.
