I think it is is more important for players of all nationalities and cultures to understand that 'smack talk' and all kinds of insults will be encountered in EVE no matter who you are... understanding the insult is not necessary.
The insults are intended to either intimidate you, or provoke an angry response which might cause you to do something stupid.
So if anything, it is better to not understand the insult!

Not so much translate what they type , but all ingame text would appear in there native language, Billing should display local currency, also diffrent locales have diffrent keyboard functionality. I think only China is the exception to everyone being on TQ , most likely as there Goverment is rather strict regarding the internet and how it's used.

wouldn't it be cool if you could implement a universal translator into your client?

From what I've been able to glean from google and wikipedia there are several text translation mechanisms out there that could be applied to eve, sure they'd be buggy and innacurate, but it'd be fun, and it would still bring something extra to the table. Maybe not the most necessary thing for internet spaceships, but it'd beat the hell out of monocles, and changing the names of missiles... ( maybe that's why we're seeing the name changes, easier/less stuff to translate? )
