I went off the grid whilst someone had me locked, after he vanished due to grid change i then cloaked. I came back onto the same grid as him after and everything was gone! On my overview i can still see everything, but visually there is no icons for anything, i mean i can see people in ships, containers etc, but i can't click on them or see their names, there is no little square that allows you click on something and bring up a menu like open cargo or lock target, i can only get this stuff now by having everything added to overview and searching that. I can't click on or see the names of anything in space in this area :(

I can't even find the cache to try to clear it, does anyone know where it is?

It seems like a client-side problem, so in the worst case scenario, a clean reinstall should solve it.

My EVE folder in my documents is located elsewhere, it's where all the gamelogs are, and the cache is not there. I can't find the cache anywhere.

Esc key, select reset setting menu, in the middle column clear all cache files.
I tried it some time ago, if I recall exactly it will ask you to exit the game and then restart. It will clear the cache wiout destroing all your setting (but some will be lost the same).

Its not in "my Documents" as such. Local Settings is a hidden folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\*your username*\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\cache
The folders marked in bold are hidden so you will have to tick "show hidden files and folders" In folder options view.
Then delete the entire machonet folder
