Why the sudden drop of megacyte? Megacyte has always been over 4000 isk now its almost the same price as zydrine. Whats the deal thought the rorqual ship would raise prices.

New ship = more demand for minerals. Not sure how much megacyte is in a rorqual but don't new ships mean a big demand in minerals?

Looking at the price history on Eve Central the price drop would appear to predate the Rorqual. So I don't think that it the driving force in the price change.
Just out of curiosity, what would make you think that increasing supply of minerals would increase their price?

Yeah but it's a mining ship. Wouldn't that put more minerals on the market?
Also, maybe people are waiting for their BP's to get researched more before building them. The demand for a cap miner can't be as high as it would be for a new combat ship anyway.

If anything, the rorqual will reduce the price even more, since it will be easier to do mining ops in deep space now. Not sure though, just a wild guess.
When it comes to megazytes, If I remember correct, our emminent in-house beancounter Dr. EyoG or whatever his callname is mentioned the price started to fall around the time of introducing the drone regions. Not sure, but Im sure you can read his blog under "Dev blogs" and im sure you will find your answer there.

New ships don't mean more ships. People will stop building other types of ships if people are busy using and losing a new type of ship.
And like Frung said, it is a mining ship. Its purpose is to increase the rate which people can mine.

I recall reading something on this line as well, and that it was due to rebalancing the mineral drops from compounds, etc, as well. I have noticed definite price rebalancing on a number of minerals, not just mega. --------------------------------------- Ever in search of new ways to turn ISK into noise and smoke.

I have also been wondering what has been happening with this.
After drone regions, Zyd tanked but for a long time mega maintained price, then a few months ago, just a long spiral down. Not nearly as quick a drop as the Zyd going down.
I really have no idea why.

When ccp finnaly fixed the belts in the drone regions, we were presented with loads of arkonor and bistot roids in good quantities and considering the thousands of miners there ... well go figure not to mention that you can mine in some systems for weeks without reds bothering you.
Btw I left the regions which are boring as a 50 year old marriage .

IT IS NOT A CAP MINER
Got that in quick. it is a mining platform but it doesn't actually mine, it compresses ore's and can use ganglinks/clone bays.
it doesn't even have turret slots, the 200km tractorbeam is nice though.

also factor in invention which makes hulks cheaper which makes more people out mining which makes more minerals which makes more supply, which makes price fall.

They don't have real names. They have names like 0.0 systems.
0.0 systems include fountian, outer ring, feythbolas..as well as the annoyingly named drone regions such as 84-cy3, ngi-457, and similar. Those are real names.. if rather annoying and indiscriptive ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Those are region names, not systems.
And only a few 0.0 systems have names, Serpentis Prime, Poitot, The angel area, and I can't htink of any others.
Also, while the Rorqual doesn't mine by itself, it does facilitate mining operations, making them more efficient and bringing in more ore which will become more minerals.

Megacyte isn't that bad yet, but I see why you guys are worried. I'm still seeing it in Lonetrek for about 3k unit, which is well above the 1.8k/unit or so that Zydrine goes for. But both appear to be falling with no obvious sign of stopping; Zydrine in particular is once again reaching the point where it's making mining unprofitable in the North.
Ideally CCP would fix this (again), but I imagine they'll just let everything slide until you can make just as much money mining in high-sec as 0.0. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic EVE Automated Influence Map: Keeping Down The Clone Business Since 2007AD |

I don't know about megacyte (bit out of my league) but tritanium has shot up in value recently, have been selling it for 2.8 in some areas! No idea why, perhaps the rorqual takes gazillions of it to make 8)

NPC item reprocessing got nerfed. The item that was keeping trit prices isn't doing it anymore. Trit is going to go up towards the next best NPC item reprocess value.

And dare I ask what bit of NPC gear is getting repo nerfed next? I somehow doubt that shuttles are the next best thing at 3.6 isk/unit.

Right, and probably the megacyte is going down in value as alliance are moving all they can to empire to sell now, before the previsted reduction in reprocessing for high compression items come and they start having more truble moving minerals.

With the introduction of:
DRONE REGIONS TIER 3 BATTLESHIPS TIER 2 BATTLECRUISERS
The mineral market changed big time... The drone regions supplied huge quantities of cheap Zyd and also large numbers of megacyte hence crashing the prices!!
And since everybody wanted the new ships all mineral stores quickly ran out of low end minerals like trit, pyerite and mexallon... Miners simply couldn't keep up with the huge demand and even though peop¦le had tried to be prepared the market had a huge change. - I'm a nice guy!!
