Well since the latest patch has totally messed up my Radeon 9000 card im getting pretty damn sick of dealing with all these little problems Radeon card's seem to be giving me overtime (that one isn't the only one). Anyone have any suggestions for a new video card? I'm not looking into buying anything too expensive 200-250 price range and i sure as hell don't want another Radeon card.

Hmmmm... buy a Gefarce card.... they are just as bad as far as problems go.... and have worse performance..... or I suppose you could buy a Matrox card... they did release one last year I think.... can't remember what it was called.....

geforce 5200fx 128 works like a dream..have had 0 problems since i got it..about 8 months ago

I'm running a Radeon 9700 Pro, without any problems
can be gotten for very little now, could even buy a used one

My very professional advice to you, is to wait a short while.
The New Nvidia Videocards will be out within the next 30-60 days, and so will the new ATI Videocards.
You can either get tops of the line performance at a top of the line price, or you can pick up a video card that is one or 2 generations from the top for much less than you can right now.
No one really knows which card will be able to claim the speed throne until benchmarks start coming out on the new videocards.
There is also a rumour that nvidia will be supplying coupons for a free Doom 3.
Should be a great time for gamers this year games/graphics wise

i have the ge-force 5900 ultra, and since last patch i have bad overlay problems with eve only. sometimes takes a few atempts to load eve |

Ummm nVidia just came out with a 9800 saw it yesterday....But it will run you about 450 - 500

Im running ASUS Geforce FX 5950 and my EVE is running great at 1600 resolution, besides all my newer games run great. if the price of 5950 is heavy for u look for Geforce 5700 from ASUS.

If you buy anything below gf5600, you might as well just get a gf ti4800, as it propably out-preform all the low-range 5000-gf cards..
But basicly, Raedon cards out-preform GeForce cards theese days

I would personally buy a radeon 9800 pro :D
It also depends of you're going to be upgrading your motherboard to PCI-X, yup's AGP is on it's way out already
You could always play the waiting game and see what new gear comes out soon, you never know what the next generation of gfx cards will bring.

FX 5600 128. 1600 x 1200 with 16 bit colors (to keep frame rate acceptable).
Not top performance, but it does the job. If you live in the EUA,
you can check this guide, altho I don't have any idea of how these prices actually exist or not (I live in Brazil, and the prices in my country are morbid, to say the least).

First off, the latest EVE patch didn't do anything to your card.
Secondly, there are many manufactures of ATI's R3XX GPUs, don't shun 'Radeons' because you *might* have a lemon. They are excellent cards, and even NVIDIA lovers can't deny that.
So if you change your mind, and are in the U.S., CompUSA has the Radeon 9800Pro for 199.00USD after rebates. You just can't beat that deal.

I am running the Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb card with Catalyst drivers 4.1 and directx 9b or whatever the current one is. Runs smooth as water. 1280x900 (or something very close to that) and i have never seen a hit to fps.
One thing that can REALLY REALLY REALLY help fps is to hit ctrl+tab. this will get rid of the neocom, chatwindows, and the hud, leaving on the autopilot, drones, cargo, scanner, and modules slots showing. this boosts performance like 200%. The only downside to this is, it also gets rid of the message box, the one that says, X is attempting to jam Y.

Running Radeon 9800 pro and has to yet get ANY problem with it... In this respect it is similar to Nvidia cards.
One difference is performance, at which Nvidia products SUCK.
Here is my .02 ISKs.
Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

9600 Pro works great here :) (256Mb because it was only ú5 more) Only thing it doesn't like is alt-tabbing.
GF4 GO 64Mb DDR also works fine. 16x12 is smooth and alt-tab works great (1Gb mem onboard might be helping). Some "smearing" if you drag windows across the game but thats about it.

9800Pro (128meg) works like a dream. Yet running on at 1280x1024 using 24bit color (should drop to 16bit since my LCD only handles 16bit).
Also heard that nVidia 5200 PCI version works well with ATI AGP cards for running 2 games on same machine.

I have a special made Grapich card !!! i have a Ati 9950 card 256 mb the only problem is that EVE dosent support that..... but thats why i'm playing on my Dads pc :P !!! he has a ATI 9800 XT 256 mb :P !!!

IMO the Radeon series is the best card out atm. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro running right now and apart from a lot of compatibility issues when I first bought it (which have all been resolved now, with new drivers) it works perfectly. Never freezes, never crashes and I can play EVE almost flawlessly with 8x AA and 16x Anisotropic Filtering enabled.
I would highly recommend getting a 9800 Pro if you have the money, they are very good cards.

Running this with a 9800 Pro at 1600x1200 with AA and AF on... the game looks beautiful and i have yet to see a slow down or a problem. No CTD or issues of any sorts. Plus its the best out there right now and will last you a good amount of time for sure. Check out sites like www.nvnews.net or www.rage3d.com for nvidia/ati product faqs and ideas on what to buy. Good luck!

I couldn't agree more, Radeon's 9800 Pro (128MB) runs like a top, excellent card and I've never had a problem yet

On a more "I can afford this" note, I've used both a 9500 Pro and a 9600XT with eve windowed at 1024*768 with everyting on, and the only time it's has graphical lag was when 20 Rat BS's were spamming missiles at an event :P

Ive Tried quite a few different GFX cards in both my systems, and having tested them side by side ive noticed that the Radeons seem to be better than Nvidia in regards to visual quality, there just seems to be a more richer colour depth for a Radeon.
May have something to do with the better filters on a Radeon, not to mention its more suited for doing 24bit colour. I must note that it is only a slight (but noticable) difference in visual quality, but i suppose that its all in the eye of the beholder !!
Also noted that the Nvidia cards give a few more FPS, but it does depend on the system ur running !!

Using a Rad 9800 Pro 128mb and it runs like a dream. I have used Nvidia cards in the past but I have always been disappointed.
Go for a Rad. Purley because Nvidia are evil for killing 3dfx (sniff sniff)
