I just installed Bioshock onto my computer, thanks to LolCats, and I LOVE IT.
My console version doesnt hold a match to the PC version. But I guess its due to my computers specs. Max details on everything, no FPS lag. Sound is amazing, the Sentry Bots that fly around sound different than on the console.
Today I have to head to blockbuster and return my bioshock xbox360 rental :)

Maybe because most console games are essentially dumbed down versions of their PC counterparts?

Qft. I have an x-box fanboy friend (eugh!) and he reckoned he could beat me at halo 2 MP, me on Vista Live, him on X-Box live.
He got 1 kill to my 30 odd, 1v1
And I'd never played halo 2 before
And he bought halo 2 for his PC even though he had it for x-box
And he has vista ---

I've been saying this since Halo 1 and the console swarm began circle jerking about FPSes... WASD + Mouse is simply the best and will simply remains the best*. Anyone remembers all the (failed) FPS controllers that have been released in the last years, both on PC and console? They all claim to "revolution" your fps experience, but as a matter of fact they all failed.

I couldn't enjoy the PS2 game Black because of how spoiled I am. The controls absolutley sucked. They were too sluggish and I couldn't change the sensativity. ------ wait...what? |

1) Get your mind out of the gutter 2) That wasn't what I meant. Seriously. How many people have or can afford to have a rig capable of running Bioshock at just the 360's quality?

Hmmm..this may well be true (never seen the 360 version).....but my none-to-fantastic PC will run Bioshock well enough for me to enjoy the game as intended without me shelling out the extra cash for a 360. -------------------------------------------------- brakespear - the lowest common denominator |

To put into perspective how easy wasd+mouse is to use, I trained my little sister to play counterstrike when she was about twelve. I believe my exact words were "Scribble on the little men's heads".

That'll Revolutionize FPS experience. Being able to kick ass like a normal computer FPS, on a console. Youll have people going OMFGHAXX over Xbox Live voice.

well Halo did do good though with controller operated FPS. however COD2 i did better on the PC then my Xbox360 as the mouse is way more precise.
however nobody can say goldeneye on N64 sucked hehe. that was just so much fun in multiplayer.

True. True. I had some classic moments on that game, including spammimg proxy mines in a narrow corridor while my stoopid brother kept firing on me at near-point-blank range. I was out of ammo. Can you guess who came out of it alive?
Shame a re-release will never happen.

WTB Microsoft that lets USB mouses and keyboards work on the 360. You can't hook it up simply because Microsoft says you can't. Playing a FPS with a dual thumbsticks is as dumb as playing a driving game with a mouse.

I thought you could use them on it, it's just that none of the games have built-in functionality. So you're kinda limited in what you can do with them. Maybe navigate the Live menus?
But I'd say the Wii could be the system for excellent console FPSes. With a Wii-mote I wouldn't be surprised if you could be as accurate as with a mouse with some practice.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

Which is funny because adding mouse and keyboard support is almost trivial because it's been in use for oh, 20+ years in the realm of computing? It doesn't help that anything that runs on a 360 is pretty much a PC game. Gears of War for example was done on the Unreal 3 engine. Chances are good the Unreal 3 engine has mouse support built in. </understatement>
Microsoft forces game companies to disable mouse/keyboard. There are many reasons why and they're complicated. One reason: mouse/keyboard makes a shooter more fun, and then someone might just buy the console + Halo 3 only, which is a financial loss to Microsoft when they need to sell games not consoles to make money.

And yes, having logged 10 hrs into Metroid Prime 3 I'd say it hasn't made me throw the controller at the wall yet, which is good. (I'm a PC FPS veteran) It's pretty quick and accurate, and it is the most intuitive FPS input possible next a lightgun.

I don't know if microsoft really has an incentive to prevent people from using a keyboard and a mouse on their console; what do I know is that consoles will never be an alternative for people like me until the start supporting a keyboard and a mouse.
