Sooo, only one sell order in Jita for 200% from the regular price and you cant pretty much find Dysprosium anywhere else....
This is going to be fun to watch when all of the tech 2 production stops.

All Tech 2 production stops because of Dysprosium? Uhh, uhm.
Dysprosium is used in exactly two simple reactions, Ferrofluid and Dysporite. Those two are used to produce Hypersynaptic Fibers, Ferrogel and Fermionic Condensates.
These complex reactions are used to build the following components:
Racial Shield Emitter, Racial Weapon Thingy, Racial Thruster, Racial Sensor Cluster, Racial Reactor Unit. (5/9 components)
Total consumption of materials(ie. how many of the reactions in total you need to make these): 7
The thing is that one gets 750 units of Hypersynaptic Fibers per cycle and 400 units of Ferrogel per cycle while one gets ONLY 2 units of Fermionic Condensates per cycle. What this means is that for some reason the requirement for anything T2 that need Racial Reactor Unit as a build component has most likely seen a rise in demand and the market hasn't adjusted yet (or has, depends on point of view). The curse of Dysprosium is that it's needed in very high relative volumes compared to other Rarity 64 moon minerals which makes it sort of median average mineral of the moon minerals.
T2 production isn't going to stop because of Dysprosium's price though, the manufacturer just have to cope with the fact that he's not getting like 300% profit from his products anymore but more like what, 225-275%?
EDIT: Oh yeah, this should be in Industry forum (well, the one about Starbases etc.) instead of General Discussions.

I guess then its ok.... monopolising one item and selling it for double the price is not really a big deal then... you just double the price of whatever you producing with it right? I mean thats what they do in third world countries with corrupt goverments in RL so why not in EVE?

You need ferrogel for quite some items! Shields, overdrives, istabs and more. I would say that ferrogel is quite important - as all the other stuff as well!
The thing is, if you block up only ONE material then ALL the items which use this one materials are blocked as well. There are not at all many items which don't use dys in one or the other form.
If you would be able to monopolize it, you would get quit some nice profit. But isn't that the case with everything else either?

This kind of thing has been happening for years, the only difference now is it takes a lot more isk to corner the market. If its not in Jita at a good price, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE |

There is 0 quantity for sale in Rens and I'm pretty sure whoever is trying to monopolize made sure there is none in other trade hubs as well....But thanks for a good advice, I wouldnt think of cheking other trade hubs before posting here.

Wow! That's freakin awesome! I've been playing for 3 years and I have NO idea what was said there. I wish I had the patience for industrial work, cause that sounds like fun to know all that stuff. He sounds like a mad scientist crossbred with a crazy industrialist.

I find that not only are F1-F8 vital to combat, but without them, the combat tree dissolves! I mean, you can't press Alt-F3 without them! Plus, imagine how it impacts the rest of the industry! Miners can't mine, haulers can't AFK cloak. Truly a horrific future we would live in.

At normal price of 10k per unit you should get 3 bil ISK, at this inflated price of almost 20K I guess it would be worth 6 bil ISK.

200% is nothing. I guess you weren't around when someone cornered the morphite market and marked everything up 5000%. This was before we had t2 components and morphite was required for T2 production.
Guess what happened to the T2 market for a couple weeks.
