Hello I'm new to this game, but find it very interesting! I'm now using av Gallente Cruiser (Vexor) with med blasters (Heavy Ion Blasters).
My problem is ing the Q's I am now they miss all the time. If it hadn't been for my med Scout drones I would struggle a bit. Not to survive, but too kill the enemy faster. Any siggestions where I'm going wrong? I'm on lvl 1 agents now and the ships I'm fighting are small. How can I do this better? Shoukd I change to other med hybrid balsters? Shoild I train some more skils? Should I do something else?
Thx.

This would probably be best in the ships and modules forum, but I'll answer it anyway, you're fighting mostly (only?) frigs in level 1 missions. Like you said yourself, they're small, too small, their signature radius and fast orbitting speed is probably too much for your blasters (especially with lower skills. Either use a frigate/destroyer, or use some small guns (railguns should do) on your vexor, and fly away from your enemies to lower transversal.
Edit: what the above poster said is a very good idea too

Check the stats on your blasters and try to stay at optimal range with your target webbed. It's also a good idea to turn off your ab if you orbit your target ship to help the tracking of your guns.

Tracking Guide (look at bottom of page, and wait for it to load)
Gunnery takes a lot of SP before it gets useful because you get zero damage when you miss. Skills don't help drones hit, it only increases their damage, so you start off doing appreciable damage that only gets better. Plus you don't need to worry as much about things like tracking/transversal, and optimal/falloff with drones, making them easier to use if you don't understand the game mechanics.
If you focus on your drone skills and tanking skills first, you can be very happy with the Vexor -> Myrmidon -> Dominix line of ships.
Since even the Gallente 'gun' focused ships have large drone bays, you'll need those drone skills anyways, so might as well train them first.
Plus you can PvP with energy vampires and energy neutralizers in your high slots (which require very little SP to get near maximum efficency from).

If your using a vexor, take advantage of its drone bonus. If I were you, I'd fit a tank and small blasters. Let your drones do most of the shooting. [/url] |

Agreed with the other guy that with a vexor you really want to focus on letting the drones do the work while you tank :)
But to answer anyway... You need a stasis webifier to pin down the target. You need to stay within your optimum range (show info on your guns). Now the slightly trickyer bit, you need to minimise transversal velocity.
Quick example: If the target ship is traveling in orbit around you from right to left, you need to flick your ship round to the left so you fly alongside it and/or kite it out behind you. Double click in space to do this.

Also bear in mind that the bigger the gun, the slower it'll track. In blasters, Electrons track fastest, but do least damage. Ions are middle in damage and tracking. Neutrons do most damage, but are the slowest tracking. For the frigs, you'll want the faster tracking weapons, or webb it hard and tear it apart with your choice of weaponry. I usually prefer to use longer ranged rails and snipe incomming traffic while the drones mop up close in. (I just love those wave after wave missions where they spawn a ways out)
If you know you're going to be swarmed, pick a direction and fly straight in some direction (preferrably away from hostiles) and pick off targets as they get close. It leaves a string of wrecks that you'll have fun looting, but it keeps you alive and your ship fairly intact. _______________________________

While missioning in a cruiser in the dim and distant past, I was running a similar setup Rupture. I found the best way to hit frigates with my guns (no drone bonus on the Ruppy) was to web and target them, and sit at about 5k.
5k is probably too far out for your blasters, but if you keep range at about 1000m, while your target is webbed, and painted, you should annihilate those pesky friggies with your blasters.

Hopefully the mods won't play with this one
